For me the US political landscape is currently very broken. Biden is way too old and clearly suffering from cognitive decline. He reminds me of how Reagan(who ended up dying from alzheimers) was like towards the end of his last term. Harris is a non-entity that would struggle to win a raffle holding all the tickets. What the Democrats are thinking, or not thinking is truly beyond me. Trump won his first term as much because they insisted on pushing that dangerous bint Clinton. They lost more than Trump won. I mean how crap of a candidate do you have to be to lose to a lowest common denominator firebrand like Trump? And that's what Trump is. That and he was seen as a wildcard "alternative" to the current political class.
Reagan was fine in his last term. Just a bit old. His Alzheimer's didnt kick in until a few year later.
People with cognitive decline can still be good thinkers, in many cases it means certain but not all mental processes have been affected, and in some cases the decline is very slow. However, I don’t want the leader of a country, my doctor or the pilot flying the plane I’m on board to be affected at a critical moment.
That's the thing. The MAGA/QAnon brigade think it's hilarious when it happens to someone else but when it's Trump, we're all suppose to care.
Thoughts and prayers.
My Halloween costume will be a suit, red tie and ketchup on my ear this year

Lst eight years people have been lighting matches of hate over this kindle pile, and now are acting all surprised that some 20 year old loser finally does go and takes a shot that has been heard around the World.
It's not really the information that's available that's the problem. It's how people process the information. The "interwebs" is a wonderful thing and I'm old enough to remember a time when it wasn't a thing at all. If you wanted to know something you read it in a newspaper or a book or heard it through a conversation with someone more experienced/knowledgable than yourself. And if you wanted to deep dive into a particular area, you better get that bookshelf ready.
You had to go out of your way to gather knowledge in the past. It required a bit of effort (and often a bit of money) and consequently you put more stock into what you were doing. These days, you have all the information you want at your fingertips, but it's all far too easy and a lot of people don't even bother going beyond the byline of even the most flimsiest of articles on a given subject. They see a headline they like and then construct their own narrative around it, even if the article itself contradicts their conclusion, leading to whole manner of fucked up pseudo theories masquerading as knowledge.
Eventually these folk will have all their pseudo theories lined up and ready to go at the first blush, and because they've invested so much of themselves fixating on certain narratives it becomes impossible for them to extract themselves out of those narratives, regardless of what contrary and verifiable information is there to contend them with. Into the bargain, that cohort is often bamboozled by bad actors who are actively flooding the zone "with shit", as Steve Bannon put it. They deliberately spread bullshit and lies, in order to intentionally muddy waters that should be clear.
So unfortunately while the net is, indeed, fantastic it has also given rise to a solidifying of groups with bizarre views, because you'll always find some corner of the web where "like minds" can be found which further fuel those crazy beliefs. But in the last 10 or so years, this conspiratorial claptrap has become politicised to a degree whereby you even have a Presidential nominee spouting a whole host of demonstrable lies, like stolen election gibberish, because he knows there's enough of a group out there that will believe it.
Reported!
Choosing to ignore all the targeted attacks that Trump has made against his rape victim, judges, his own VP and even Paul Pelosi after he was almost killed? Trump is the greatest culprit of encouraging political violence and this has backfired on him, resulting in a Republican trying to kill him.
Yeah strange based on some of the posts on here last Saturday night from your lot. If that happened to Biden nobody in the Trump camp would have been celebrating who posts on boards
What's this Trump camp? How can people be in a Trump or Biden camp on here?
I broadly agree with you. But the Biden / Harris ticket soundly beat Trump (incumbent) and broke Obamas voting record.
It is very hard to argue it wasn't the right call. The alternative for the last 2 cycles was Bernie. I suppose Biden could have run the caveat that he was going to be a one term president solely to stop Trump etc, whilst the Democrats groomed and promoted a successor. But that is rather unrealistic.
The reality is both candidates are deeply unpopular with neither party having credible alternatives willing to run right now.
There is Newsom who has a national profile, but I imagine he believes Trump will win and he will then be a absolute shoe in for the next election.
Politicians particularly American ones will primarily look after themselves and will have no problem playing the long game.
I remember lots of pretty warped posts around the time Paul Pelosi was almost murdered. On top of that Trump and his family said some pretty nasty **** in relation to it too.
Probably because most people who post on boards aren't 'in the Trump Camp', as that would be bizarre.
When the other guy is an absolute cunt, though, I'd sooner take my chances with the decent guy on the decline.
Besides US politics isn't a one man show. Remember, it's a party you eventually vote into place and you only have to take a glance at the current state of the Republicans to know they're not in America's best interest.
He said that the Secret Service agents hit him so hard that his shoes came off. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/donald-trump-shoes-assassination-attempt_n_6694ea99e4b01c0df9904354
But unless he was wearing slippers, that sounds like nonsense. You would have to get hit by a car for your shoes to come flying off. So we are still left wondering why he wasnt wearing his shoes.
Trump media stock up 48% another injection from the Russians
Small feet. Oversized shoes. Simples.
People though Reagan had alzheimers because he said the USSR would collapse before the end of the decade. Evetyone though he was nuts for saying this. Spitting Image even had a series of sketches where he brain was replaced with a walnut!
Roll on 1989 and it happened!
Wasn't that his father?
Well no. Reagan was as thick as bottled shít. He was an actor with good writers who could provide him with memorial lines.
Off script he was a bumbling mess.
MI5 reported to Thatcher they thought he was retarded.
That is where the lampooning came from.
There is mixed reports whether he had the disease whilst in office or not.
I know the US has high levels of protection around freedom of speech, but surely that bottom picture is a fairly blatant threat against their current president?
they’re **** dress shoes not hiking boots. This is the dumbest CT nonsense so far.
