We should be thankful Trump wasn't assassinated tonight. It could well have sparked off civil war in the US : many of his more extreme supporters are unhinged and would have claimed Biden (or some other part of the 'establishment') had him murdered.

Well the secret service are going to have serious questions to answer. How the hell did someone get with a weapon within an arses roar of a former president ?
His base were always going to vote for him. Why should this win him votes outside of his base given he has already vowed to reward those on January 6th who wanted to assasinate Pelosi and others with a Presidential pardon?

Pretty sure most of that was prior to knowledge of a shooter being shot. It's more the flurry of early discussions. Pretty sure pretty much everyone would agree at this point that there was a shooter.

And people accuse Trump supporters of being conspiracy theorist. My word some people actually think this was a set up. The guy who fired the shots is dead. A set up who would agree to get shot and killed.
Unfortunately this is perfect for Trump, the conspiracy theories will be in full effect and if the Democrats try to switch Biden now it'll be played by the Republicans as being related to this attack.

Would make sense, it would possibly either have to be a higher caliber shot from much farther away or small enough weapon+caliber to conceal and get into the event.
No way to tell the lethality of the round. A round fired by an AR-15 is 0.003 of an inch wider than that fired by a .22. And it's half the size of a .45 pistol round.
