Thats it, I want Pro rugby to continue, but thers the timebomb of concussion court cases coming - had a few concusions myself, world rugby should be doing more for players safety which means less rugby, more quality rather than the 12 month cycle of today. Some people have the idea that cause players are proffesional they should be able to adapt to any demand , just cause they get paid - like wahts happening in France now.
How and where do you cut games then. How long more should players get off. You've complained bit offered no alternatives. Nobody has said players should have to adapt to any demand simply because they are professional.
Yeah I was very lucky to avoid concussion, I don't know how it never happened. I've a friend who was not so lucky. He played second row for Connacht, he had nine concussions. He's concerned about it all time.
International players are still not finished the season, while theyre clubs are back in pre-season for next season - this in a World cup year ,
you make the season shorter, give them real rest time, if you really care about players welfare and not $$$
The international players get their holidays after this. The players who are back now have had 4 or 5 weeks off and will get another break in pre season as well as breaks during the season.
Make season shorter where.Where do you cut? Replace that income from cut games where? You can care about players and also be concerned if you cut games you cut income which affects squad sizes, contracts etc
Northampton Saints have a new logo. Someone was actually paid to design this...
If you told me this was a fake logo from a game that couldn't get licensing rights, I'd believe you.
That's what you get when you take a logo from, literally, 1880 and put it on your jersey.
Why pay graphic design if youre going to use a design from a time when graphic design didn't exist
😜
from Wikipedia ;
The club was established in 1880 under the original title of Northampton St. James (Saints) by Rev Samuel Wathen Wigg, a local clergyman and curate of St. James Church who was a resident of the nearby village of Milton Malsor in the house known as "Mortimers".[7] This is how the club got its two nicknames of "The Saints" or "Jimmies"
I am immensely pleased to learn this and shall henceforth always refer to them as
Northampton Jimmies
NZ v England on Sky: Anna Woolhouse, Ellis Genge, Nick Evans, and (of course) Will Greenwood.
kick-off 8:05 Irish time
..
Miles Harrison and David Flatman are on comms again.
What Stuart Barnes has done to become persona non gratia in rugby-TV-land I’m not sure, but he doesn’t seem to have done a commentary since Sky more or less left the rugby scene (bar these summer internationals) in or about 2018.
Australia v Wales: Studio: Anna Woolhouse, George North, Alun Wyn Jones, Sam Warburton.
Sideline: Lauren Jenkins, Tim Horan. Comms: Rupert Cox and Sam Warburton
South Africa v Ireland: Anna Woolhouse, Rory Best, Shane Horgan.
Comms: Martin Gillingham and Alan Quinlan
Quinlan can be very annoying at times.
Argentina v France (whistle to whistle) Jamie Lyall and Ben Kayser.
Can I just ask why you're posting the commentators for all these games? I don't really understand.
It was to answer a query earlier in this thread by Steven Toast. The series is over now (well except for Scotland, who have two more games) so i won’t post again.
Ok. Don't let me stop you anyway, was just curious.
People often ask 'who's that in the studio / who's on comms'. The info provided by @icdg is for the benefit of others, and not his own. In threads often dominated by posters insisting on stating and ceaselessly justifying their own (sometimes odd) opinions, this type of post is a very welcome addition & I'd like to thank @icdg for their efforts.
The WRU doing WRU things

To be fair to WRU, it's really nothing to do with the club sides. No idea why they think they should have been consulted.
It's like connacht giving out that the Aviva is leased for a music gig
Bristol are a realistic rival to Cardiff when it comes to attracting fans. This gives them a leg up in the area to attracting fans who want to watch the premiership. It is awful by the WRU to allow this without discussion with the clubs. Would the IRFU allow a premiership game in the Aviva without informing the clubs? I highly doubt it.
Its a bonkers decision by WRU and very short sighted. The WRU should be promoting the Welsh club game and URC not making it easier for Welsh fans to defect to its competitor (in terms of fans and tv audience), the Premiership.
I was very interested to see what effort Sky Sports put into their Rugby Union coverage for the summer internationals.
Sky used to be a powerhouse of Rugby..…with regular presenters, pundits etc....now they are just thrown together...
Thank you to icdg for all that info.....
Is this WRU Bristol decision at least looking like it'll yield a nice payday for the Union? 'cos if it doesn't even result in a healthier bank account, what on earth is the point here?
In my option welsh rugby does itself no favours with the public by the appointment of Cory hill as captain for this weekends game, in a much greater factor than putting a Bristol game on in the principality while Cardiff are playing away in South Africa (a game Cardiff fans won't be travelling to)
People give out about WRUs governance and the financial predicament they are in, and then when they try to get some money in on a free weekend at their main stadium, they are pilloried by the very clubs that will benefit from this.
Sad to hear. Motor neuron disease. He was a good player but unlucky that his career coincided with the tail end of Sean Fitzpatrick and the start of Anton Oliver's.
Its not really, is it? A rugby game v a music gig?
