thinking of one of these for our family car.

Wondering if any owners on here with knowledge of them or opinions?

Seem pretty rare in Ireland but from what I can see are well specced and good reliability while reasonably cheap to run.
Underpinnings are phev Toyota RAV4 I think.

Any opinion welcome.

The Lexus NX450+ looks like a great option, especially with the 10-year Relax warranty and the fact it’s not everywhere. However, if it were my money, I'd probably go for the Volvo XC60 plug-in hybrid.

the Volvo has been around though for a long time and seems dated at this stage?

The price of it has rocketed in recent years too.

Mercedes in an attempt to capture the electric/hybrid market gave their engineers a blank cheque and after years of research the Mercedes engineers said copy Lexus.

That's what Mercedes did and it's what everyone else still does.

Definitely. They are the most reliable cars on the road. And their SUV’s are underrated IMO. I had an older Lexus Rx450h and absolutely loved it. It was honestly better than my Range Rover that was 7 years newer and cost €48,000 more

I have a 2007 (17 years old, 250k km) RX400h and it has a few rattles but everything still works on it.

That model was a direct competitor to the Porsche Cayenne and has stood the test of time. It would have been around 70k new back in 2007.

It shouldn't have any rattles at all, most likely just needs new bushings and/or anti roll bar links. No big deal of a job and the parts aren't expensive either.

The interiors in them are just so poor looking compared to their competitors, I was going to buy one for my last but once I saw the interior it was a straight no.

The cheapest new Lexus is probably 50k plus, and the CVT gearbox puts some people off too, same system in Toyota hybrid's for a smaller price

The new LBX compact SUV Hybrid is 40k, I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of them sold to older people trading in and downsizing.

That's basically a tarted up Yaris cross with a 50% badge tax!!!

Lexus of old were mostly standalone models but now pretty much all of them are rebadged toyotas with the same engines, chassis etc with small styling changes and that 50% badge tax. Stinks of laziness and its not as if Toyota are a good value car anymore so its a 50% increase on an already expensive car.

Nha, they’ve always been rebadged Toyotas, we just rarely got the Toyota versions in Ireland. Like the Toyota Crown etc. Toyota have always had some seriously luxurious cars in Japan, which are identical to Lexus

thats rubbish the LBX is not just a rebadged yaris - its getting great reviews and is good value .

if you look at any car it will share components with lesser brands or models . i certainly wouldnt drive a yaris cross but would quite fancy an LBX

Same here, their cars make a lot of sense on paper and are a comfy drive but the interior is just brutal with chaotic arrangement of buttons, outdated graphics and questionable colour/material combinations.

I still consider audis to be be posh vws but i see lexus as a premium brand . i wonder if lexus were sold at standalone showrooms in major urban centres would they be seen differently in ireland . uk buyers havent really taken to the brand either

You don't have to own a car to have an opinion on or know much about it 😅 2 colleagues have had a Lexus (IS and NX) and I've spent considerable time in it on trips and having borrowed it for a little bit. They are quite luxurious in how well they drive with smooth progress, comfortable suspension and sound insulation with excellent spec. But I will stand by the comment on interior design and usability, which is just lacking when compared to other premium brands. It's like Lexus tries to go for sleek minimalist luxury but then halfway through goes on a random selection of buttons, pads and knobs in incoherent layers across the dash.

The new NX does improve substantially but the dash is giving a mix of Ford and VW to me. But look each to their own, I guess the Japanese car interior design never did it for me apart from Mazda. It would be boring if we all liked the same design even if the IE/UK market seems to share my view.

i get your point, but i think they make up for it on the outside . styling from MB and BMW not great lately and Audi are just bland and never take risks

I think the Lexus looks good. Dealer presence in Ireland or lack of is probably another reason there aren't so many around.

I'm on my third lexus at this stage. I have owned Rx, Ct and now Es. Comfy, reliable, very well made and cheap to run. The new hybrid systems are fantastic - nippy yet economical. The new Nx looks great. Pity that they do only plug ins, as a conventional hybrid makes much more sense from the economic standpoint.

I was on to the dealer and any order except the base model is February 25 delivery. They said supply is an issue.

might be another reason you don’t see too many in Ireland.

I think Lexus is not a reputable brand in Europe, as the most popular luxury brands are from Germany. In America, however, Lexus is considered a great brand, if not the best brand. German brands like BMW, Audi, and Mercedes are not as popular in America as they are in Europe. So it's just about market/culture.

The truth is, there is nothing more reliable than Lexus. I am a Toyota owner, and the only thing I hate about my Corolla Touring Sport is the noise. My car is so noisy that it makes me feel angry. Lexus is as reliable as Toyota, with a 10-year Toyota Relax warranty (or Lexus Relax), but they are also very comfortable and quiet. The sound insulation is great. I definitely think this is a great purchase!

Currently driving a 17 year old Lexus GS450H hybrid and no issues no problems puts a smile on my face every time I drive it…built to closer tolerances than a rolls Royce Royce they used to say…dunno is that true but if lexus made people no one would die :-)

wondering if the OP made a purchase ?

I just have and delivery is middle of January , leaving a long history of E class behind me and 5 series before that, the Lexus Relax warranty was very appealing for me.
