The family made a mistake in having it raised in the Dail. From my experience, these things are best dealt with through the Consular service quietly in the interests of the citizen. You don't make it a public challenge to another government, that can backfire spectacularly. MLMD should have known that, she also should have known that it would be best to raise it privately with the Taoiseach.
Pretty much clearly on display was the naivety of MLMD, her inexperience and her bullheadedness. From a woman who claims to want to be Taoiseach, it was very worrying.
The family can be excused, they are not politicians, they were worried about their daughter/sister/cousin/friend. MLMD risked the woman's safety to try and score some cheap political points. Despicable.

Firstly, it is not true that GDP bears no relation to the performance of the domestic economy. It exaggerates the performance of the domestic economy, but that doesn't affect the argument I raise.
I make the point that public expenditure as a percentage of GDP is now less than 2019. If you were really interested in challenging that point, you would present the figures in relation to public expenditure as a percentage of GNP or GNI. I would guess, that as you haven't presented these, they don't back up your challenge.
As I said, only right-wing hawks would be sticking to the 5% rule in the face of current population growth, inflation and demands for better public service.

Quite clear from the court case that the two lads had a fight, assaulted each other, and one was found slightly more guilty than the other. On reading about White, I am surprised that McGahon's claim of self-defence wasn't taken more seriously as the White lad has something about him.

The courts did not find him guilty of an assault. That the civil courts only found him 65% responsible on the balance of probability introduces sufficient doubt.
