Its been emptied out for a week with the chairs blocking it off. No work/workmen to be seen so.....
Yes thats it.
So is the whole thing called Corbert Court? Because I always assumed it was just the first few shops coming off Williamsgate street as far as Art & Hobby and Eyre Square Shopping centre beyond that.
You'd be right.
Well nearly right because my phone corrected Corbett into Corbert, but yeah. I was racking my brain to think of a coffee shop that side.
The Costa in Quay Street closed too a couple of years back. Wonder why they are not successful in Galway when they seem to thrive in every other Irish location...
Hopefully because people prefer to support the many local cafes we have.
Still have one in Oranmore. Surprised the one in the SC is closed. Always busy.
Yeah delighted to see some great local cafes holding up against the big chains.
May be due to the extorniate rent in that shopping centre. I was wondering when I walked by it this week - I saw a high viz jacket left at the back of it and an appliance pulled out. The high viz made me wonder if they were going to work on something but if it has been like that for days, I would say it is done. Probably doesn't help that it is surrounded by 2 Starbucks now too.
Two Starbucks, an Insomnia, Esquires and a Nero. And two independents (Cafe Express press and Bia Boru).
Hooked restaurant in Barna has closed its doors - as of 7th July.
Shoppers Left Reeling At Closure
Galway shopper's have been blindsided by the sudden closure of the much loved Pretty Women Dresses in the city's Corbett Court. One shopper said "where will I, a pretty woman, now get my dresses?".
Maybe Galway Beo's AI dept can rustle up some dresses for her? Hopefully of better quality than their bot created articles....
Lidl Headford Rd closing 15:00 26/07 until mid-September. Instore leaflet has a 4x €10 off €50 food spend for other Lidl stores. Go go go go
I assume this part of the expansion into the old Argos unit.
Congrats Poirot.
I noticed yesterday that they've taken the front wall off half the old Argos unit: even though Lidl fitouts can basic enough, I suspect there's a good bit of work to be done in this.
They're putting big lobbies in a lot of them now. I don't really know why. All that's in ours are the RVMs but that only takes up less than a fifth of it.
Taffes old shop has sale agreed on the estate agent sign so hopefully something happening there. No news yet on who is going in to treasure chest building…?
was about to ask the same question- it would be amazing if a multi-range products store went in there- tons of space for a decent quality retail unit- obviously the best pedestrian traffic in Galway city
multi-range products store
Someone like Deals?
Ah please, Galwegians are far more discerning...a multi range like a one stop vape, Turkish barber, mobile phone repair, kebabs and cash for gold emporium would be much more desirable!
Fingers crossed for a phone covers shop, american candy shop, nails beauty shop or a barber
A gym, surely.
Plenty space upstairs for refugee accommodation.
Stacks of paper coupons instore this morning
Imagine my surprise.... The unit on Eyre square that used be a real estate crowd (I think) beside fibbers pub reopened as a convenience store, front section is wall to wall vapes.
Cough, money laundering, cough!
It's been empty since 2019, at least.
Is it better to have an empty shop or a vape shop?
What's the answer Mrs Bumble the suspense is killing me here
