Following on from main thread in Current Affairs about Tubs in general (now closed and mod suggestion that Entertainment category is more suitable).
Indeed, entertainment in certain respects is what Tubs has provided, albeit perhaps in a way not intended. And still awaiting 150k payback to the licence fee holder.
And of course, his new career in Virgin Radio which is imminent.

come Sunday evening I’m sure he will be hearing the theme tune of Glenroe in his head and dreading that back to boarding school feeling in the pit of his stomach
Ryan Tubridy has been backed to enter the race for the Aras. Limerick TD Willie O’Dea told us, “He’s obviously a very talented guy and Fianna Fail could do with all the talent it could get at the moment so obviously I would welcome him.”
Virgin Radio UK host Tubridy shares a close friendship with President Higgins, often hosting the Aras summer garden parties as well as conducting big interviews with the President on The Late Late Show. He even interviewed the President for his final show.
The father-of-two has also written a book about President John F Kennedy’s four-day visit to Ireland. Another former Taoiseach is thought to be eyeing the Presidential position as Bertie Ahern.

FF obviously flying kites for the most unpopular people in Ireland, so Bertie can swoop in and look "better"
Where's that #NotMyPresdient thingy that was going around when Trump won?
Must dust it off, maybe organise a storming of the Aras.
As someone who spent a number of years working abroad, and when getting home for a few days or even just a weekend, it’s not a nice feeling getting back on that flight that brings you back to work….
I’m sure he’s living like a king while back in the sod….. but as the week steamrolls onwards, those visions of his London pad will be getting ever clearer in the back of his mind, and I’m sure Aer Lingus aren’t helping with those reminder emails they’ll be sending him….. “get ready to fly Bryan”…
For his sake I hope it's not Aer Lingus he's booked in with. Ryan would never stoop to Ryanair, surely? It could be "Holyhead ahoy!"
It's his ideal job…seven (possibly 14) years of never having to put his hand in his pocket to pay for anything. Plus he gets to look down on us poor dopes who'll pay the taxes that'll keep him in that lifestyle.
Missing the "honesty" factor though…
"if the work is not called upon to be done, of course the money goes back".
Just a heads up, Ryan's podcast gets a 2nd series
"unbelievable first season", "well done Ryan", "you're looking great Ryan". No wonder he had to go to Taylor Swift for some full on encouragement.
.....
He's aged, bless him
That won't help when he goes into battle against Bertie Ahern and Miriam O'Callaghan and Ming for the keys to the Áras.
He'll just block off replies like he does on YouTube.
Have I woken up on April 1?
At lot of the likes seem to be coming from RTE staff (Carl Mullan), podcast guests (Andrea Corr) or accounts with very few posts. Hmm.
If one were conspiracy minded. They might think they are the product of a bot farm.
Poor Bryan won’t have had much of a break with all this work promoting whiskey and podcasts, preparing to run for el Presidente and what with being adulated every where he goes.
I thought when he quit lates he wanted to travel the world rather than tramp across the west in the rain?
We can’t do the Alan Partridge comparisons anymore because Ryan (unlike Alan) has actually managed to get a second series!
(I was hoping for Tubbs hosting ‘Monkey Tennis’ but guess we’ll have to wait a while longer)
What does "getting a second series" mean?
Anyone can put anything up on YT and call it epic if they want.
Sure I could host a show on YouTube and run it for 10 'seasons'.
Is he celebrating that Eason has decided to put their name to it, is that the success, cos the number of views it got would suggest it wasnt that successful?
Somehow I don't think Ryan getting a second podcast is going to deter anyone from comparing him to Alan. It is far too extraordinary how their situation resemblances can be so uncanny and even the 'monkey tennis' scenario that you have referred to could quite possibly become a future Tubridy/Cass conversation.
who recommissioned him - Noel?
there’s probably a good chance that the Easons tie in is indefinite… or at least as long as TibbleTubble keeps putting out the podcast in its current ‘book’ format, Easons will continue to ‘sponsor’ it. Or they initially signed up to sponsor 20-30 podcasts, and King NidgeNoel can call them whatever he wants… season 17 if he wants…
You’d think as a book podcast they’d have called the episodes chapters rather than episodes…?
The Bookshelf, Volume II, Chapter 1: Ronan Keating
Was it not a poster here, "nonetheless", who said that Tubridy was getting a second series? Tubridy just said that Season II is on the way. "nonetheless" then liked your post scoffing at the idea the idea that Tubridy was "getting a second series" even though it was he who had used those words.
Tubridy is a talentless clown and deserves to be scoffed at, but only for things he has actually said or done.
BTW I am putting this here, I will not be surprised if The Bookshelf replaces The Tonight Show on VMTV ONE in August. 3 weeks of largely free content, it suits a certain audience, what I call the "RTÉ Guide Readers".
Is it just me or does Nick Cave on the front cover of this month’s Mojo look like Tubs with black hair? 😮
wash your mouth out!!
Bobson as has been pointed out most like this was a "2 season" deal or a 26 episode deal.
As peek my head out of my book and angerly doom scroll.
"Rose remarked: "It’s like another world. A travel programme please Ryan.""it's obviously NK looking to secure a travel programme for Ryan. https://www.thesun.ie/tvandshowbiz/13386478/ryan-tubridy-holiday-galway-views-castle-ireland-virgin-radio/#:~:text=Rose%20remarked%3A%20%22It%E2%80%99s%20like%20another%20world.%20A%20travel%20programme%20please%20Ryan.%22
