Anyone know what the GUI rate is in Enniscrone?
Think its 65, or at least it was last year
shiney and new. Picked up in the pro shop on Saturday afternoon shortly before my tee time for captains day. A quick fitting for 2 wedges followed and with 1 needing to be ordered only 1 new one went in the bag with an old SM6 hidden in the background 🤣
It was very enjoyable peeling the plastic off each of them as required throughout the round. Not a single one was used to warm up 😎
Got to the 18th and pulled my drive into heavy rough. With the 8 iron the only club I hadn’t used and still in its wrapper, it was deemed weapon of choice for the recovery.
34 points was a pretty respectable result. I feel it could have been bettered had the wedge been in stock
@Seve OB Best of Luck with the new Bats 😁
€70, just paid a deposit on a trip in August on it.
Anyone find the perfect 3 wood.
I had one then stupidly changed/traded after 5 years .
Now the search is on again. The new ones have been alright but they are not the one.
Your old model on the used market?
It's like marrying the sister.
Never the same.
Unfortunate wording there. I’d have said “her sister” 😂
To get the GUI rates do you have to ring the club house? I see its €195 on their website?
Pretty sure I have the perfect one now alright (though maybe it's the perfect shaft rather than clubhead?)
Was fit for it around 2021
I got the sim 2 recently, new in mcguirks, think its a beaut of a club. The fact that theyre still producing the sim range for drivers / woods says a lot
I just e-mailed them as was arranging a trip out there for a few days so was getting a couple of availability options off them. But I'd say if you call them be the same.
Cheers, I'm actually over in Sligo for work in September and I was hoping to get in a round, but when I checked the website and saw €195, I was like F that. Ill shoot them an email…
Out of curiosity, do many of these top rated course that charge in and around €200 or more, offer better rates to GUI members?
Not a comment on the sim2 as such but wouldn't read anything into TM continuing to make them, thats their standard business model. They made the M6 range available again last year at reduced prices and in a set, same with SIM2 range this year. Expect Stealth 1 or 2 to have same range in the next year or so. Whats weird to me is they only seem to offer the 'max' version instead of the full range which i'd have thought would have limited sales but maybe not.
Random newbie question. Monthly medal in my club this weekend. Haven’t played one before. Is a medal always strokeplay as opposed to Stableford - didn’t specify on BRS golf timesheet? Any other things I should know so I don’t make a fool out of myself (apart from my golf)?!
Yes, typically Medal comps are strokeplay off the back tees. But other than having to hole out regardless of your how many shots you've taken on the hole, there's nothing else different than stableford comp.
there's nothing else different than stableford comp.
Other than pace of play usually being much slower!
You're forgetting to add the torture aspect to your comment. Especially when hitting your 5th/7th/9th off the tee box. You just want to pack it in.
Had a 12 on our 4th during the Intermediate Scratch Cup at the weekend.
fair, it can be pretty taxing mentally when its not going well, have to grit the teeth and keep going. first few i played i wanted to walk off after about 6 holes 😫
Thanks all. I’ll prepare myself for the torture of not being able to pick it up - might leave the driver in the bag in a few!
If in doubt, hit a provisional at any time.
Always better to have one out there and not need it than a hike back to where you previously hit from
Also, if it does go t*ts up early on a hole (or at any time) you can have NR for the competition but still finish out and play for your handicap. The bad hole will just be a nett double bogey so there's still something to play for.
Just a note on medals as I see this often; You can absolutely pick up your ball on a hole. You will DQ yourself from the comp as a result and get a NR but your round can still count for handicap purposes, just put in 'picked up' or 'did not finish' on the computer when entering your scores post round. If more people did this when they are realistically out of contention it would help a lot to speed up slow play in medal comps, a lot of people seem to think you can't just give up on the comp while completing your round. I've done it and still had that round count for my handicap, turns your 9 or 10 or whatever into a nett double bogey which WHS will do anyway.
Thanks for clearing that up...😬😆
Played a club match this morning and one of the opposition had a ping G430 sft set of woods.
Got to hit it 3W on the walk in.
He was very gracious in defeat.
Definitely a contender...
Cleveland Halo also in the mix.
You can pick it up and be marked as a non runner.
Enniscrone used to do an "after 5" rate up to last year for sure, worth a phone call
Enniscrone raised their prices significantly last year. We had a group that's been going there for 15+ years, and they've moved to Rossapena now.
That's what I though, I remember playing there 6 or 7 years ago and it was no where near 195. I actually think it was in or around the 45/50 mark. Some hike.
Got a G425 Max 3w on Saturday (replaced a TM M2), first non-Titleist or Taylormade club I've owned. It is a beast….
