Is this thread about the Burkes or Enoch?
The conversation was about the Burkes, not just Enoch.
Well I don't think it says in the bible to harass your employer in front of other staff, maybe it does?
I think we can agree, that if you use the bible as your moral barometer, you might need to readjust that. How a book written thousands of years ago can have any real relevance in the modern day is weird. The Burkes actually make a case for that.
So, his religion has affected his character which brought about his actions which resulted in imprisonment. ok.
The bible doesn't speak about transgenderism, although it does mention adultery in all it's forms, that is sexual activity which is generally deemed illicit - fornication, lust, being unfaithful, prostitution, sex for the sake of sex, homosexuality, beastiality. I'm sure you get the gist. All these things were considered unlawful and socially unacceptable.
On the other hand, it was ok to have sex 700 wives (Solomon) and marry your sister (Abraham). Of course, spiling your seed was punishable by death. (Gen 38:8-10)
edited to add: Matt 19:11
1 Jesus replied, “Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. 12 For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”
I think this is the closest you'll come to Jesus acknowleging that there are those who are born that way.
I think they have played a part in his character, yes. I don't know if there is much in the bible about transgenderism and pronouns though…maybe this is why I am going to hell?
You don’t think his beliefs played a part in his actions?
Can stand over your prejudices no?
Except he ended up in prison based off his actions, not his beliefs.
I'm going to enjoy every minute of damnation if that's the case.
Having abandoned all duties (Dharmas) take refuge in Me alone. I will liberate you from all sins. Do not grieve.
The Bhagavad Gita 18:66 (predates Christianity)
It's only scary when you don't understand and fear is an incredbily powerful weapon.
By definition, whichever place the Burkes end up in will be Hell for everyone else there.
So as long as I end up in the other place, that's fine by me.
All part of the Burke's beliefs Francis and very relevant.
Biblical discussions, this thread will never not surprise.
The Bible can be a very scary and confusing book alright.
I always find it unusual that evangelical christians refer to the bible with the 66 books (KJV) and disparage the other 7 books in the catholic scripture. The apocryphal texts are actually my favourite books and the situations they deal with are more in line with the gender issues that we face today. The story of Sarah in Tobit rung especially true for me as I was able to relate deeply to her situation having dealt with my own personal Asmodeus for half my adult life.
The additional chapters in Daniel, who comes to the rescue of Susanna when being sexually harassed and blackmailed by two church elders
The story of Judith, who saved a nation by ignoring the religious teachings being espoused to wait for God to act and went rogue, seduced the general of the opposing army and cutting off his head. Good movie there.
None of these stories exist in the protestant bible, which probably explains a lot.
Then we can all look forward to huge numbers of intelligent stimulating company when we reach the inferno
Then save me a space on the stripper poll into hell.
😈
I don't know, they're probably asleep.
Jewish halakhic law forbids the spilling of a man's seed and Lilith takes advantage of this, during masturbation and erotic dreams, and uses it to replenish her own offspring.
Did it say if the men she took advantage of complained?
It's creation and co-creation. Women not necessary, although according to legend (Jewish folklore and midrash) Lillith was the first woman "brought forth" from the depths but she refused to allow Adam to dominate her so fled the garden and basically gave up her children and is portrayed as taking advatantage of sleeping men in order to steal their seed. (succubus)
Well they are right about one thing!
…..and I'll leave it there, for fear of being added to the long list of the dearly departed on page one 😕
Edit:
What if the Burkes are right and the rest of us are all wrong? We're doomed to rot in Hell !!
A quick search
I suspect they would point to Genesis 1:27 on which they base their belief, a quick google brought me to it.
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
But you knew that Peregrinus, few share his faith beliefs, and I certainly won’t be togging out with them intellectually, you just wanted to be a smart arse.
He forgot (purposely omitted) the rib part. Adam was so happy when God took out his rib one night to form a woman for him that he called her woman, because she was taken from a man. No women necessary for the reprouction of any other woman, men did it all by themselves.
Gen 2:22-24
It's almost like it doesn't really matter what the Bible says and is just an excuse to put forward whatever hateful opinions you have.
selectively at that.
For Christians they sure do bang on about the old testament a bunch more than the new testament.
Also Leviticus
The relevant biblical verses (Leviticus 19:19 and Deuteronomy 22:11) prohibit wearing wool and linen fabrics in one garment, the blending of different species of animals, and the planting together of different kinds of seeds (collectively known as kilayim).
Oh, and here's another one, used during the same campaign, this time quoting Genesis.
