Not a fan of theirs but Kasabian looked great at Glasto. Might give them a look at EP.
Haven't seen them since before Tom got kicked out (rightly so btw) but Serge is a great frontman. Do love the backlash they get from people saying how Tom was Kasabian or it's just a cover band.
The crowd were adoring it at Glasto, and the tent was rammed. I only like 3/4 tracks but I’ll check them out next month. Agree both re Tom being kicked out and them still being a proper band.
Saw them in king John's castle last year, brilliant show. Serge is a perfect front man. They seem to push the party type atmosphere at their shows now, great for a festival crowd.

I saw them twice with Tom there, and once since he left (Serge as lead singer). For me, there was no comparison. Tom seemed to have a natural frontman persona. With Serge, it looks forced - like he is trying to better what Tom did, and like he is under pressure to do so.
Also, I don't really like this new trippy dance type path that Serge has taken the band on.
Where was that? I'd been keeping an eye on Ticketmaster and hadn't seen that. Unless it was people choosing to sell their own tickets for less than face value as resale tickets.
I don't think that's the case at all. They were pushing a lot of tickets out through competitions but they were never half price.

The new album is actually really good. They've Rob Harvey from The Music who seems to do quite a bit of vocals on the new album too and seems a great addition.

Really enjoyed the marlay park gigs this year at always but only really noticed the hill that the stage was on at KOL. Just behind golden circle barrier and couldn't see the stage at all. Really bad dip in the ground so had to move back to actually see them and not just be looking at the screens. Hopefully stage can be changed to how it was previously next year

Having been to both Malahide and Marlay in recent weeks I have to say I far prefer the setup of Malahide (stage, layout of toilets/ bars etc.), it made for a more enjoyable experience.
My eyes nearly popped out of my head seeing over €70 for seats at Khruangbin (before ticketmaster fees). I've seen them before and liked them, but that's got to be one of the more outrageous ones I've seen in a while.
Very enjoyable at EP, and probably even better at the Salty Dog for the secret set I missed. However €70+ is extortionate, they’re a €35/€40 band for me with their best tune a collaboration with Leon Bridges. Alas, whilst people pay those prices we’re stuck with them. Or worse.
standing is €60. Tenner extra for seating is normal. nearly sold out on reduced capacity set up. and by and large an arena show costs €50 above as standard. Bigger production needed, higher venue fees etc.
Fontaines at 3 arena is cheapest one about, they are doing full set up which does help price a bit.
Standing at €60 isn't good value either tbh, jumping to €70 after fees get added. Maybe I've missed something with their career path where they can command that sort of price but I was also expecting a Vicar Street type gig for €35-40 or thereabouts.
Yeah, fully agreed on the stage setup. We had regular tickets for Pearl Jam and struggled to see anything on the stage whereas we had gold circle tickets for KOL and it was night and day of a difference. In general it was great having a bit more space and being able to find each other easier in the gold circle but we could also see the stage no problem. Would be getting those tickets again assuming the markup wasn't too much (it wasn't for KOL).
I dunno.. Anything under €80 in The Point seems reasonably priced to me. I don't love it, but that's the way things are these days unless an act is really trying to ensure tickets are cheap like Paul Heaton did. €70 doesn't seem egregious for Khruangbin.

€40/€45 for Paul Heaton and Fontaines. Reasonable I think. Khruangbin are not an act worthy of charging almost double the fee. But hey, the more half-empty shows we have the more likely we are to get reduced prices. MCD will just make up for the lost profits by hammering people on tickets for artists with larger fan bases.
They're both exceptional value alright, but unfortunately that's the exception rather than the rule. Would be great if everyone did that, but generally for a gig in The Point €60 would be on the cheaper side. €80 seems about standard price and obviously some acts such as Stevie Nicks charge a lot more than that.
they’ve blown up in the covid years and skipped the medium sized theatre venue tours to very big rooms/arenas now.
both Fontaines and Khruangbin are singular artist shows. Khruangbin won’t be half empty, it is nearly sold out on the planned set up. again slightly wrong that mcd can just turn around and add €5 extra to a certain show price to make up for a dud. They will just get it back in non ticketed avenues such as bar pricing, % on merch etc
Core point - the bookers will retrieve their losses elsewhere. Re the planned set up for Khruangbin how much of the 13k capacity are they using? In London they’re playing the 5.3k capacity Hammersmith Apollo (though three nights) and Manchester is the 3.5k Apollo. I can’t see Khruangbin getting close to 13k in Dublin. Smack of greed by all concerned and here’s hoping this post-lockdown era is a blip that’ll rectify itself with pricing coming back into line with standard inflationary increases. I’m not optimistic about this. In the meantime you’ll find me at the smaller, and non-Dublin, venues.
