And that was the start of the off season in the southern hemisphere. Thanks for clearing that up.
Yes? I would be far more worried about mental fatigue than physical fatigue to be honest. They are well looked after.
And I know it's been said multiple times, but if they thought he had too much gametime he would have been forced to rest for Munster games, not Ireland ones. The tests are far more important for the sport.
Well nobody know what he does or doesn't want, and it doesn't really matter as he's contractually obliged to.
Point is, lack of rest and recovery can contribute to injury or career longevity and flogging a player for 12 months straight will be tough on any rugby player and increase that risk. We'll only ever know in hindsight so it's all mere speculation and there a good chance nothing I'm suggesting comes to pass. But I'd have thought he'd need a rest given his significant time this year.
Yes and the same applies to them as the northern hemisphere in my opinion.
RSA v Ireland
Studio: Anna Woolhouse, Rory Best, Shane Horgan
Comms Martin Gillingham and Alan Quinlan.
I honestly don't know what you're on about.
icdg = Legend
For completion, Jamie Layell and Ben Kayser did Argentina v France, which was “whistle to whistle”.
Over on TNT, Paul Mitchell and Lee Jones are doing Canada v Scotland.
On fatigue and guys like Beirne playing long seasons, isn't that what mandated IRFU minutes & CCs are all about? Beirne has a few seasons left as a rugby pro, Im sure he'll play as much as he can, and mentally these guys have all the resources to maintain themselves as needed. Lots of people have pressure jobs that they need to deal with. Think about national hunt jockeys or even soccer players with big teams. I'd be skeptical of the idea that burnout can be used as an excuse or pretext for arguing that these tours are a bridge too far.
Melvyn Jaminet has been suspended from the France squad and removed from the touring group after posting a video where he says "I promise, the first Arab I see on the road, I’ll headbutt him".
Horrible stuff. Could be the end of his international career.
'Could be the end of his international career' - Probably, but he could always sign for Montpelier
Unlikely though given they're owned by Mohed Altrad - a guy who is described on a piece on Altrad's own website as "the only Arab self-made billionaire in France".
Jockeys are the same as rugby players?
Do you realise the amount of hits a rugby players body takes over the course of a season? They say one game is like getting hit by a car travelling at 32 kmph for backs and 40 for forwards.
Do you realise the amount of injuries and level of risk In Horse racing.
What Jockeys do day in day out is ridiculous and that's just the racing never-ending any riding out they do for trainers etc when not actually on a racecourse racing
How many times do they get hit hard every week?
A guy who continues to employ Bastien Chalureau?
You're joking. Right. Look up pretty much any jockey and injuries. Falls off horses at 40 miles an hour can happen at any stage. Look at broken bone list of many of the long standing Jockeys.
Falling off a horse at speed bears no relation to getting hit hard. You can roll up in a ball when your fall and protect yourself.
I'm not saying that being a jockey is easy, it's just nothing like professional rigby.
For injuries it's worse.
This is a really weird, somewhat redundant segue that can surely go nowhere. Both sports are bloody dangerous, in different ways, but not so much that it matters. 🤷♂️ I'd not wanna be at the bottom of a collapsed scrum anymore than I'd wanna be thrown off a horse.
I don't know if I'd rather be trampled by PSDT or I Am Maximus.
Yeah, fair point.
It's completely different though.
MOD: Craig Casey's similarity to jockeys aside, I think this has run its course.
Whatever about Casey, I'm surprised no-one brought Furlong into this discussion.
Jamie Joseph returning to the Highlanders as head coach next season.
Clarke Dermody staying on in an assistant coach role.
Nice!!!
Two French rugby players, Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou, have bee accused of sexual assault in Argentina.
This tour will go down in infamy.
Jegou already had a month long suspension for cocaine use this season. Whilst this is alleged, he has to be a f*cking moron to put himself in this situation 9 months after being suspended for drug use.
The mad thing about his cocaine use was that it took place 48 hours before his season opener and first ever start for LAR.
