What is the story with them? Are people actually getting away with having them? its taking the piss in my opinion as are the people with no front number plate.
I was talking about the license plates….. they're hardly going to show up with them still on full well knowing they'll fail the NCT on the spot. As for the toll charges, sod 'em!
You’ve mentioned this before and it makes no sense. Illegal plates are already an NCT fail.
Some tints are lighter than others, I think the lighter tints look good on some cars. Btw can anyone PM me where does it near Letterkenny. Asking for a friend 😜.
You can just google it, plenty of online retailers that provide the plates.
I suppose that can't make it illegal to sell them buy hopefully they crack down on them. Somebody came up with them to start the craze
The lack of enforcement on number plates drives me mad. Between German style plates, wrong colours, too small a font and so on, it's becoming more and more prevalent.
You might say it's a minor issue and why waste time, but I say if we can't be bothered enforcing small rules that are blatant to see, then where does that stop?
You see loads of people with small or obscured L and N plates. An abundance of cars with missing front lights. I see in the winter at least once a week a car driving with just drls, so their back lights are off. But unless you happen to go through an extremely rare checkpoint, will anything ever come of these? Unlikely...
I did a round trip yesterday that lasted 6 hours, I didnt see 1 police car, 1 Guard or 1 check point. The trip was West of Ireland to Dublin and back again.
The unmarked Garda cars are more difficult to spot now-a-days.

I do say it's a minor issue because it is exactly that. For such a minor issue to drive you mad says more about you.
There is no point in cracking down on the sellers. The numptys will always be able to order them online from another jurisdiction.
It's not like the Gardai can't see them on the cars.
They all look terrible - no car looks right with cheap looking tacky irregular plates.. You might as well put a dent or scrape on your car. The only benefit they have is they warn other drivers that the driver is someone who doesnt care about the rules of the road. Invariably the people with these plates are the type that think they are great drivers, but are really very poor drivers.
The customer is always right, in matters of taste.

I think it's mad that people go to the bother of getting "cool" number plates. You have to switch them out for the NCT if nothing else like..
Well they're likely the same people that have to readjust their camber and alignment so a couple screws is probably nothing to them. And swapping number plates literally takes all of two minutes. It's not that much of a hassle really.

Cars are only NCT’d once they reach 4 years old. I’ve seen quite a few 23 and 24 cars and SUV’s with these tinted plates. I think they suit cars with the black styling pack.
Are yellow back plates legal or not, I see lots of them on southern cars in border counties. I wouldn’t be a fan of the yellow backplates.
Yellow plates are not legal. Neither are red ones, except if they were legal when the car was first registered. Neither are the old black ones with white or silver letters, agail, unless they were legal when the car was first registered.
Are you sure you didn't mean Northern cars? Because they would have a yellow and black rear plate.

Must be awful for ya when much of our road signage is black and yellow.
At least the signage serves a purpose and I probably notice them more than most because of this. Autism is fun!

No, definitely southern cars. I know the Northern cars all have yellow backs.
