Following on from main thread in Current Affairs about Tubs in general (now closed and mod suggestion that Entertainment category is more suitable).
Indeed, entertainment in certain respects is what Tubs has provided, albeit perhaps in a way not intended. And still awaiting 150k payback to the licence fee holder.
And of course, his new career in Virgin Radio which is imminent.

I'm from the locality. Apparently Tubs' agent was involved in greasing the wheels in the background for the Muff distillery. I know nothing about his agent but apparently he has the right contacts.
Well, in some cases.
The way he pens his 'letter home' articles, he might as well be in the Pitcairn Isles, as according to Tubbelino, he's revealing all about life in the big time to all the spud munchers back in Ireland who still don't know what those white painted lines in the sky are… and have never even heard of London…..
Reminds me of seeing someone post not so cryptic memes about an ex and think "maybe the ex wasnt the problem".
Has he bought shares in the company or something?
Probably for another tax dodge engineered by Kelly.
Investing in a distillery is the complete opposite of diversification. If tubbs has invested, he's showing the usual financial intelligence displayed by previous LLS presenters.
And by the time the little people decide something is a great investment, it's time for the smart money to take their profits.
Even a dictionary would show that you don't know what you're talking about.
Likely the EIS scheme. Tax advantages, but hardly a 'dodge'.
More of a swerve…
Maybe like tubs you should eschew online debate.
Well, it's the government compensating for the increased risk caused by investing in a start-up company and the lack of diversification. It's good policy for the government to encourage local entrepreneurs.
I have a few quid to invest can you point me in the right direction, please. Also about those 100k jobs in Dublin, can you point some out to me, I am looking for move forward in my career. I will update as I increase my income.
For all we know he didn't lump ANY of his money into Muff Distillery. Might have just lumped our money in.
I suppose those former 2fm presenter should consider those job also. I will come back to you in 5 years.
I’ve seen Bobson (under his real name) listed as one of the 500 founders behind Dingle Gin and distillery so suspect he knows what he’s talking about. Myself on the other hand … !
TBH I never quite understood the whole summer 2023 anger about Tubs, So RTE were really paying him 515k (at a time of a thriving economy and full employment) but publishing that he was being paid 440k? Of course it was extremely undignified of RTE to do that but back in 2011 when the country was bankrupt in an EU/IMF bailout, with massive amounts of unemployment, and even the minimum wage was cut by 1€ per hour for a time, Tubs got a pay rise to about 800k. That was the time people should have refused to pay the TV licence.
Mad as they were, those historic figures were transparent.
In relation to last year's events, he took payment for gigs he didn't do, payment stupidly agreed to by RTE.
Knowing how poor it looked, he told the Public Accounts Committee that "if the work is not called upon to be done, of course the money goes back".
However, as that can't be legally enforced by RTE, he slunk off with €150k of licence fee payers money.
Some people bizarrely hold a view that as it's not legally enforceable he's off the hook in all respects.
He has a corrupt moral compass.
its always the cover up that brings them down, same here
Martin King on this morning. Easy listening, that's all I want.
The common denominator doesn't get any lower than that lad
Did Tubs have a diary yesterday? Can't find it and missing the entertainment value.
Or was 30th June the end of the current contract?
His ghostwriter said last week that he was taking a break from it for a couple of weeks while he's off the show.
He said last week that he's taking a few weeks off from the radio and the diary.
🙏.
On his holliers (presumably in Clifden) - why would he be writing a "London Diary" from there?
Half the shite he writes in it has nothing to do with London!
Why not? It does not stop him from doing a substandard radio show from London that is seemingly predominantly targeted at a Dublin/Ireland audience.
'Recharging the batteries', was the phrase at the time he used for these getaways.
He'd get away more often, but you just can't get the contracts these days.
"Oh shure, be gorrah, I'm off air for a couple of weeks now. Getting out of the big smoke of London, that fast paced, all action lifestyle and heading to my happy place, my santuary. Where the little people just treat me like one of the locals. No selfies, no running from screaming fans……..the greatest little town on earth. Clifden, Co. Galway. Yes sirree!"
