Now the search called off

Do we think he really is being held over a drug debt and the mother has the money, a lot of stories on him going about
You'd have to a very bad sense of direction to get lost on a single lane road that only has one destination, down hill, into a town, where there are multiple bus points, and a constant flow of random cars all going in that one direction down
Id reckon he was killed by some gang or other. He'd have turned up othrwise with the searches.

It would make some sense for trained vultures to be used in these searches over difficult and extensive terrain. A vulture would pinpoint any remains, of course he would likely find a lot of animal carcasses too but could be very useful in such searches. I’ve seen trained vultures in action, returning to handler at birds of prey shows.
This thread has been sponsored by the word "allegedly".
But not AutoGlass. To be clear.
honestly no idea if it's legit or not, doing the rounds on twitter
It would be far more logical to use honey badgers and a lot more fun watching them running around tennerife
i used to volunteer with a local (sea) search n rescue unit and there was a story about cadaver dogs being trained to find where in the water the missing body was. They could smell gas or odours coming up from the water. Worked quite well I believe. The dog (& handler) would go in the boat with a crew, and they would drive around on some sort of grid search, and when the dog smelled something (s)he would signal by a special bark or put their paw in the air (or something…). Then the crew would mark the spot and then drop the dog & handler back to shore, pick up some divers and go back to the spot and search ……………. HOWEVER ……. the dog was too smart , and if dog didnt smell anything , he would get bored driving round in circles and would give the "get me back to shore" signal and get his reward for a job well done! It would be hours before the humans knew that it was a false alarm!!!! …… wonder if vultures are smart?
There was an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm where a corpse sniffing dog featured quite prominently.
Great thread !
Tiktokers really don't help in a crisis situation.
I always assumed volunteers did not require payment
Very well put. Imagine mercenary hikers aren't exactly what you would hope to attract.
If Only
the family have come out and said that it’s not.
aye but gotta get those likes in 🤪
Jet in, make a few crap videos. Enjoy your holiday setting. It's cynical but understandable, when you boil it down.
Absolutely disgusted at the Tiktok surrounding this. Read one article where a tiktoker, on finding out that there was money raised towards rescue efforts says he didn't come out to be paid, but if the family wanted to give him a TREAT for the end of his stay he will take it. He legit called it a "TREAT" like a reward, there is a family missing their son and he's calling that family out to pay his drinks and a holiday extension.
Teenagers and man children flew down for a holiday, and we just accept and nurture these psychopaths. How do search and rescue efforts work with that crowd anyway, can authorities actually trust they've covered the area and didn't just film a 30 second video hiking, bash down a few cans and walk off as is in their character?
I don't understand why tik tok 'stars' would go there. There is another besides the one who ask for a treat. What exactly is a tik tok star, someone who makes videos?
Not certain but I think in my day they were known as chancers.
Gas world when being a tik tok 'star' is given legitimacy and people like that taken seriously in a search for a missing person
Edit and his team lol.
chancers and attention addicts / whores
The former Real Madrid and Spain striker Emilio Butragueno was known as 'The Vulture'. Maybe they could ask him to give them a hand with the search.
Comes out of retirement to save the day. Have a flashback scene with him having to decide between his twin passions of football and mountaineering rescue. Cliffhanger for a new generation.
Considering the quality of modern day films, wouldn't be a bad movie.
Those are two fairly wild and unrelated outcomes.
Wouldn't it be easier to simply say you don't have a Jaysus clue?
The whole coverage of this shows blatant classism. Contrast it with the coverage of Michael Mosley going missing.
So what if Slater was drunk and got lost, or on drugs and got lost or beaten up by a drug gang and got lost? The first and only thing to do is find him like they did with Mosley. Then once they found him you could call him a sack for being drunk or high or beating up the young lad in the past, but they had simply to find him first.
How was your urge for a conspiracy theory more powerful than your urge for basic human compassion to simply find him?
