Well it looks like this is going ahead just got an email stating that there is a 30% discount on tickets for 2024, they'll need to try a bit harder for an enticing line up.
It was in 2021 when restrictions were lifted, it was just a one day event in a park in Sligo town. The Hazelwood location was the originally intended location for 2020 but interrupted by the pandemic and it was only when the restrictions were lightened that they decided to do a one dayer.
in 2021 it was moved from May to August but never into town, it was still Hazlewood. I dont remember wild roots in the town… I cant see how it would be feasible tbh.
they have done sligo live in the town and they still do it each year which is an open event you just pay what you have when entering wine st car park
The first one was in Stephen Street in 2021 and it was a free event, it was called Wild Roots in the Park.
Was that a follow on from or replacement for this one in 2021 in Hazelwood?
Yes, I remember they went all out to make that happen, with antigens and all that covid stuff but couldn't go ahead. So I suppose when the restrictions slackened they done the free event for the publicity.
No Place Like Dome!! F*uck me that's a blast from the past!! That place was off the charts! Think it was 06 or 07 the one I was at. A load of us in an auld Mercedes school bus half converted to a camper!
I was referring to Sea Sessions
Does anyone know why this festival was cancelled.?
"The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission is urging ticket holders for the Wild Roots festival in Sligo to request a refund.
The Wild Roots festival was due to take in Hazelwood today, and run over the weekend, but was cancelled recently.
Grainne Griffin, Director of Communications for the CCPC issued a statement saying “you’re entitled to a refund if you don’t get what you paid for.”
And that once you make this clear to the seller, “they must refund you in full within 14 days.”
Well they didn't pay their bills and it was going to be revealed anyway eventually through the courts and media so the festival folded on 22nd May. If you look at the Sligo Champion front page from the 22nd May you'll find the answer.
seems obvious that they didn’t have money to fully pay suppliers for last year festival and if you can’t make it right on last year suppliers they aren’t going to work with them this year, not enough cash to cover operational expenses and remainder of fee payments due to performers for this year either. If you’ve no cash you can’t put on a festival.
Beegor, it's on the Liveline.....SURPRISE....no one has received refunds yet.
what time roughly? I'd like to listen back.
and they probably won’t. the tickets weren’t sold though ticketmaster right? The likes of ticketmaster/eventbrite hold onto payments till event date for this exact reason
If it was paid by card, charge back is the only option
and chargeback window might have expired
First item up
they were a fun 4 years
Still worth a try. Window for transaction maybe expired, but not for delivery date. If banks did chargebacks illegally during covid, I can't see any reasons why they can't do it now (legally).
Back on liveline again today I'm told. Seems it's not the first item, which has just started.
I’m not a legal person but this doesn’t look good…
No refunds apparently. Absolutely shocking behavior
sadly was likely as they sold the tickets themselves, if it had been sold through legit ticket company like ticketmaster or eventbrite then people’s money is secure till the event takes place
I contacted my bank and they have refunded me!
