Susan is some bullschitter.
The house of shadows.
Seems the yard is part of the property, but it's not as nice as it looks in the pictures; it's an oddly shaped plot of land connected to the land the house sits on by a narrow strip of road. The location of the house is really rather terrible, all in all; you're sandwiched between a nightclub, some abandoned warehouses, a giant scrap metal recycling facility in the port, and a busy N road (with the nearest pedestrian crossing being like half a kilometre away, so good luck not being crushed by an HGV full of scrap while trying to cross the road to the Lidl…).
As for what the place used to be, given the location it was most likely a warehouse or similar industrial building of some sort. I'm sure the primer-grey paint and cheap flooring will probably block most of the fumes from the residue of whatever toxic materials used to be stored inside, though. Probably.
Just realised:
"On street parking is widely available in the vicinity and residents parking permits are available from DLRCOCO."
So, half a mil and doesn't have its own parking space? Even at half the price, that would rule it out for me.
Ber E2?
Also, this:
So hidden, I imagine getting deliveries is a nightmare.
It's a fairly common way of building up north, and is/was generally well respected by both parties. 'Shared access' like this never caught on south of the border.
€4m and they have some seriously ugly storage heaters in the big room downstairs. Either get some nice looking heaters or pay someone to put some proper radiators there.
I'm not a fan of the cladding but I do like it and the views of Belfast

That is stunning. Took me a while to figure out what the tiled area at the back door was. It's a dog bath (I think).
It is a dog bath! Cute picture of the dog on top, to let the viewer know!
It is lovely. Lacks a bit of personality, but that's okay, it's staged as a show house to sell.
Not fond of the black cladding either, don't know how that will look in 20 years time.
God, that Belfast house is fabulous!
I don't like it at all, too big, boring and bland. Awful flooring apart from the utility too.
Amazing views though and I'd imagine the cladding helps it blend into the environment, although it needs more landscaping to help with that.
I don't like the neighbours wrecked yard next to the house with trucks and what ever else will be driving in and out. Especially when paying over a million sterling.
When you go back to 2009 on street view, this was just a small cottage and neat bungalow next door and tidy farm and field on the other side. Whoever bought or inherited all that property really changed the area.
Nothing much here, but I noticed this site for sale. It's quite a reasonable price and would suit a local. Close to the primary school, village, and GAA pitch. But when you look at it with Google Street View the same site was for sale 14 years ago. Strange how it was never sold.

Overpriced for location is my opinion and probably always was too which is why it hasn't sold.
Yep, too expensive, I'd say. €50k for a site in very rural Sligo (close to a village, yes, but one with zero amenities) is more than anyone is likely to pay. At 1.7 acres it's too big for a single-family home, but too small to really do anything useful with the rest, so the size just means the price is too high for the use you'd get out of it.
Does it have a local needs planning restriction? That would limit the number of potential buyers.
Seems to be close to the asking price for the area for sites in the area. It probably would be better to sell it as two sites. Like I said it would only really suit a local, I couldn't see anyone moving into the area to build new. On PP, I'm not sure but for lots of county Sligo you need to be a local to get PP on a rural greenfield site. You will get planning if there is an existing dwelling.

How grim is this!!!
It looks like someone was living there recently.

It's awful and very sad too to think someone was living in that. I'm assuming an elderly person who couldn't use upstairs and so the front room became a bedroom at some point. I'd imagine it was filled with a load of stuff (think hoarder) but obviously I am speculating. It's giving me the creeps tbh between the dirt, dust and damp.
That looks very familiar, was it on Grand Designs?
I like it. Ex corpo, so well built. I have seen houses in walk in condition being totally gutted, at least with this house nothing is good will be thrown in to a skip. It is like a going into a time warp, complete with heavy layers of nicotine and photos of the Sacred Heart.
clock stopped at 7.43. 1953.
Better to buy a house like that than one that’s all fur coat, and no knickers.
Very grim, but I've seen old corpo houses like that brought back to life.
Some millionaire, or some survivalist will buy it!

or wanna be Bond villain.
Like others, re the Navan house, I feel a little bit sad to think that someone was living there. It looks so cold and damp.
That Naven house is advertised as being eligible for the vacant property grant so must have been empty for at least 2 years.
It looks like a widowed person was moved into a care home and the house just left until after their death.
