One charge was for around 10€ (my one) and the other was around 14€.

I actually think that’s exactly what happened. As I received two emails for the start of charging this is likely what happened. And when the other guys finished, I got the bill.

I am writing here not because of the small amount of money, but because I don't think this should be able to happen. And if it happened to me, I guess it happened to others as well. But does everybody pay attention? I did because that’s all new for me and I used the ESB charger only the second time.

It's stupid as hell that anyone can stop any session on the AG Chargers. At least with Ionity and Maxol or whatever you need the original card/app account to do that.

I always stop charging sessions from my car or the app. Never the machine. Main reason is that it's the same every time, no faffing around with fobs or cards or squinting at a screen in bright sunshine (if we're lucky).

I'll hold my hand up and say I've done it once. 2 cable Charger in the middle of bays only the front ones marked as EV. Car drives out of spot 1 spot 2 already empty. So l couldn't start. So thinking it was from the last session stopped it. But it was plugged into a EV behind. On a line of cars it wasn't obvious.

But yeah you shouldn't be able to cancel sessions that aren't your own. Messers will just cancel them for the crack.

Car parks can automatically do it. Why not charging bays. No economy of scale In guessing.

Applegreen already do it in the UK. There signs up saying cameras monitored the bays and anyone not charging for 10 mins or more would receive a penalty charge notice. That's at Michaelwood Services southbound.

It unlikely to be feasible at a single charger site, but should be at their 8 bay hubs.

Applegreen would outsource the management of the carpark to a private operator (in the example given it's Parkingeye).

As it's a private carpark, the penalty charge notice (PCN) issued not a fine, but made to look like one (all private carpark operators do this). The PCN is akin to invoice for a breach of contract on private land.

Essentially its a civil matter and to enforce it they would need sue you for breach of contract, which I'm sure the carpark management/operator does regularly.

Doubtful ESB has control over any of they carparks in which they operate, let alone owning any of them. So its would be up to the land owner or whom ever has control over the land.

So, I finally received message from ESB ecars:

They are not reimbursing my money. They checked the logs and can see that both sessions were started from my card. As this is possible I am not entitled for a refund.

All I can say: Whatch what you are doing and check your emails when using there chargers. It might very well be that it was my mistake, but I never had thought I could stop/start someone elses running session and then even being charged for it.

I have learned my lesson!

That's dreadful I wouldn't be happy with that. So did the other car/card get charged at all?

On a matter of principle I would be contacting them every single day and informing them they have 14 days before you instigate a chargeback which will cause their admin dept more trouble. Keep doing this costing them more in manpower. Don't give in to that crack. Seriously why would you have taken the time to contact them over 14eur if it wasnt a mistake by them. Screw them back

How can he instigate a chargeback if it was taken from his PAYG money already lodged to his account? I do agree I'd plague the life out of them until I was reimbursed.
