Following on from main thread in Current Affairs about Tubs in general (now closed and mod suggestion that Entertainment category is more suitable).
Indeed, entertainment in certain respects is what Tubs has provided, albeit perhaps in a way not intended. And still awaiting 150k payback to the licence fee holder.
And of course, his new career in Virgin Radio which is imminent.

A shame that young Swift fans had to stand outside listening to the concert, whilst a 50yr old man got a ticket so he could be seen and get his name in the media.
But that's the way concerts and sporting events are now. Very hard for real fans to attend. And getting harder.
…and it was never going to be anything but. Taylor who?
Such a shame you didn’t ask a good and kind friend from one of their freebies, I’m sure generosity would not have been found wanting among birds of a feather. 💋 #swifties #galwayrocks
😭 #Cringetastic!!
Taylor Swift really just amounted to a high profile guest at the Ryan Tubridy Show.
Who wouldn't lol
I did try to get tickets (the shame!) but Ticektbastard wouldn’t play nice. I believe Bob went VIP and even got to play a few tunes at the after party with Taylor who seemed quite enchanted by him.
Yet you keep coming back to this thread to say this. I'm surprised you didn't mention pot noodles
I cannot believe RTE did not mention Bob, Emmett or TheBMG, it's absurd!!
It's Mr Per RAJAR, who will be paying him a visit in mid August.
Urban legend about that party. He was known to be careful about his money though, like not spending it frivolously, although at same time he was too trusting about who he let trust with his investments and got stung more than once.
I’m a hardcore Beatles fan and would’ve loved to have seen Taylor. Probably would’ve skipped the friendship bracelets though - not a great look for a man in his late 50’s!
in fairness he is a bit of a trailblazer…
I don’t know too many hardcore Beatles fans who are also Swifties that wear friendship bracelets….
There’s only 1 reason he was there last night and it was to be seen…..
I’m guessing he didn’t get home after the gig and listen to Abbey Road…
What does the 2nd bracelet from the right say?
Mr Personality?
Mr Pervert?
Mr Perpendicular?
Mr Perpetual?
Mr Perceptual?
Mr Permanent?
Mr Persuasive?
Mr Perfect? (I can see it being this one)
From the RTE website…
poor pathetic fukker
That’s not the VIP enclosure😮
lol
yeah but the 3 Arena tickets are cheaper 😉
will be nice if Brian turns up to the 3 Arena tonight. Although it’s unlikely as it’s on the north side. But so is Q102. Times are hard
What a Pro…
It's not just about Tay Tay.
An Austin Butler link about auditions for Game Of Thrones turned into a freaky wierd set of Elvis impersonations and I'm going to see Taylor Swift at 3 Arena.
Begging for suggestions on air as to how to "survive" the 3 hour plus show tonight, BTW going to see Taylor Swift at 3 Arena.
Fascination with people getting old, mentioned Mel Brooks turning 98 and a snide reference to the US presidential showdown debate - which is really not within the remit of a formatted music radio station, but look. What sounded like I'm going to see... His mic feed cut - there is no music intro to the beginning of Coldplay's 'Fix You' it leads straight into Chris Martin's vocal.
Coming out of Sheryl Crow's 'All I Wanna Do' and it's into freaky wierd Elvis/country guitar impressions - a brief mention of line dancing and it's back into freaky wierd Elvis/country guitar impressions.
Most of his links today were a platform to tell everyone that he was going to see Taylor Swift at the 3 Arena which also led his producer at one point to correct him that the concert is at the Aviva.
The show also seemed to come from Dublin today, although not officially announced AFAIK. But look, the main thing is: He is extremely happy - likes MOST of the people he works with. And while the quality of his links and presentation are drifting further down to RMS Titanic wreck depths, the PD of Virgin Radio UK for whom may not have supported Tubridy's signing, is probably rolling around his office floor in stitches. BTW Ryan is going to see Taylor Swift.
Absolutely… there will probably be loads of 50something men at these gigs accompanying their 7-12yo daughters…
and there'll be Bryan Tubridy. The Toyman, the coolest cat in town, down with the swifties despite being in his fifties
What's weirder is that nobody in Virgin seems to have taken him aside for a word. Aside from him being technically poor at his job, it's hard to see how any non Irish listener would want to tune in. It's like being told this is a club you're not welcome in. This is the sort of thing that could damage Virgin's audience figures significantly.
The other, more damning angle is that he is incapable of adjusting. That's particularly weird because most people instinctively adjust their conversations depending on who they're talking to. Was he as parochial as this when he was on RTE?
he doesn’t give a flying duck about the U.K. audience figures. Never has since day one and no sign of any adaptation to the audience. It’s what makes the whole Virgin deal so bizarre
he has just made 2 references to Ireland, Irish people, Its odd that he presents as if he is still broadcasting to an Irish audience.
I am even more confused now.
Guys, it's a teeny weeny bit unfair to criticise Ryan for going to a Taylor Swift concert. Come on…
if there is one it's well met.
Wait, what?
Aside from Brooks being Tubs boss. What is the realtionship between the two?
Brief clip this morning 'Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, I'm a 51 year old Beatles fan.' Enough.
