It's the logging trucks for me. Almost feels like 2 meters of 3 inch box section all that's holding 60 logs from barrelling off the side of the trailer.

I used plug and charge at ionity Gorey, I presume you mean VW/ Cupra plug and charge, it worked fine.
Only Ionity support the official Plug and Charge standard(ISO 15118) in Ireland.
And you obviously need an EV that suppports it too. VAG support it, not sure about others.

Normally converting vehicles to electric isn't very economical, but the case seems quite different for buses
At least it must be if Wrightbus are willing to do the conversion rather than just sell a new bus
I assume it's down to production methods, buses and trucks tend to be more hand assembled and not automated to the same degree as cars. So there's already a lot of costly man hours sunk into existing buses
Interestingly they mentioned a price of £200,000 for the conversion and that it's a lot cheaper than a new electric bus. I know Kilsaran were saying electric trucks cost 2.5x what a diesel one does so the same could apply to buses
I don't know how much a diesel bus costs new, but £200k sounds in the right region. So it's possible fleet managers will be able to convert an existing bus for the price of a new diesel one, giving a life extension to their fleet and reducing emissions without incurring a cost penalty
I see the new M20 plan (Cork - Limerick) includes transport hubs at Rathduff, Mourneabbey, Mallow, Buttevant, Charleville, Bruree and Croom. Among other things (like park and ride) these are to include EV charging facilities. I wonder how many they intend to have at them.
The absolute bare minimum would be my assumption
Although there's a park and ride in planning for the M11 which has 42 EV chargers for 388 parking spaces (presumably AC chargers)
So maybe that'll give some idea of how many chargers will be installed
Perhaps I'm too skeptical but I'll believe it when I see it. Easy enough to delay or reduce scope of plans and EV chargers are a simple target for cost savings when there's a budget overrun

All the free lamp post chargers on the 3 rock road now have signs on them saying Out of Order.
Probably the last free chargers around the area that were available.

In some ways I'm not sympathetic, but in many ways I am
I never felt Bjorn was the greedy type, he seems to be a fairly down to earth person He doesn't live an overly extravagant lifestyle, he spends money on the things that mean a lot to him and his family
While I definitely envied his success allowing him to buy the dream house, I never felt that he didn't deserve it. He said himself he would usually work 100 hour weeks before he had kids to keep content coming out
I do think he made some bad financial decisions and he really needs to own them and figure out the path forward. Going asking for loans from your fans is pretty desperate, and I do appreciate that he's scraping the barrel and he asked for a loan rather than a donation. But he is running a business so it's up to him to figure out how to keep that business profitable
In general, I've seen several YouTube creators saying recently they've seen their revenue drop considerably. At the same time more ads are being served, so it seems that the platform is taking a bigger slice of the revenue
A lot of them are turning to other sources of revenue like Patreon subscriptions. One gaming channel (Second Wind) said recently that they'd be a lot more comfortable with 50,000 giving $5 per month than trying to clickbait their way to 1 million views on videos
I even heard a great term for how all the major platforms are getting worse, enshitification
They're all doing it, trying to grind as much revenue at the cost of any decent user experience
Not an easy watch - he seems to have dug himself into a serious financial hole through the decisions he took on building a big house, an outdoor heated pool (which he built to convince "wifey" to move there) and a separate heated garage (which holds banana boxes for videos).
I like the content he creates, but I'm not sure the approach here asking fans to give him a loan is right. He is on the verge of learning a very difficult life lesson if he has to take a negative equity hit on the new house by selling it.
Maybe he crowdfunds enough from this video to get the loan sharks off his back.....

I have to confess I didn't watch all of it as I find him very difficult to listen to. Like everything in this world nothing lasts forever and he built a huge house on an unstable income. It reminds me of the Celtic tiger whingers who looked down their noses at people living within their means during the "boom" and then wanted their sympathy when it went tits up in 2008. As we've all found out over the years the only person who can fix your problems is you and it looks like he's going to learn that lesson too.
I agree he creates great content, however I don't think I've watched any of his videos in over a year….. they are only interesting to prospective buyers of the car he's testing…
I too hope he get's it all sorted, and gets to keep his dream house, but at the same time I'm not building heated swimming pools in my garden when I don't have the means to fund it (I actually do, but those funds are better (in my opinion) spent paying off debts before buying fancy things).

I'm sure plenty of us here could build a swimming pool with borrowings less than the price of some of our cars (that said, I've no idea now much a swimming pool would cost to build as I don't know anyone that has one )
well we kinda do, as the debt is quite small and could be cleared overnight if we chose.. , and we have far better things to be spending our money on than heated swimming pools. I was moreso trying to portray it from Bjorn's point of view…. he had that crippling debt yet installed a heated swimming pool… maddness.
I'm not going to hold it against him for buying a nice house with nice stuff. After all we're all here trying to justify spending €40k or more on a car which is functionally equivalent to something half the price
He definitely made some mistakes though, buying stuff for the house before paying off the high interest loan. A lot of us who have bought houses lived for a few years with the cheapest IKEA furniture available simply because we can't afford more

I had naively assumed that he still worked as a programmer in a university. So youtube is his job now and he has the Norwegian equivalent of a Muck Mansion. Bizarre stuff asking for loans on youtube.
Video seems to be gone now which is sensible. If he was in Ireland and publicised his financial issues like that and subsequently put the house on the market, the sh*tehawks and vultures would smell a firesale from a mile off.
He does produce useful content but given that EVs are basically appliances, there's only so much to say about them. He's not going to get a critical mass of people settling down for an evening's entertainment watching his videos. These days, the only Bjorn videos I usually watch are the range test ones and then only a minute or two, skipping to the range comparison table part.
Nothing was new with us, were happy to accept hand me downs from relations and second hand stuff. And our earnings were probably above average at the time.

Looks like VW's internal software group Cariad has largely been cut out and the new partnership will handle software for the next generation of VW platforms
While it doesn't work out well for Cariad, it's probably a win overall for both companies as VW gets access to an already developed software stack (which generally seems to have excellent software). Rivian also gets an influx of cash when it badly needs it
Doesnt he also own a Model 3 in Thailand? I presume if he still owns it it's up for sale..
