Fair play lads. Vouge and Spencer will have serious competition for baby related content.
A mum and dad model is the ideal, anything else is just the opinions of ideologues
So you are just back to asserting the same thing again. You know asserting something without citing a shred of evidence for it - does not become evidenced just because you keep saying it over and over again?
If you have any actual support for the claim this is an "ideal" I am all ears and will change my position instantly. The exact opposite of ideologues.
But as I said - shouting it over and over with your fingers in your ears is not going to modify reality to fit your preconceptions. Ideologue indeed! You are representing the label you are throwing at others :)
There certainly are. Ones that have been tired, tested and challenged.
Can you even imagine a law preventing people from photographing their own children and uploading? It's simply ridiculous. EVERY parent in the country breaking the law when they send a picture of their kids to a grandparent via FB, Insta or WhatsApp or whatever socials they choose?
The consequences you are happy to accept would make 90%+ of parents a law breaker? Do you think this would be a good law, that would pass scrutiny and be accepted by the people?
At least they will never be short of flip-flops or radio spots.
We do not live in an ideal world though, so fallacy called right there.
I was responding to the fatuous claim that the traditional model is no way better , I accept that the mum - dad pairing isn't always in place but it should still be the aspiration for society
I feel no need to prove that Ireland is wetter than Australia either , those insisting that the traditional parenting model is of no intrinsic superior value are the ones with the work to do
In a nutshell
Brian was or is presenter on VM1 Six O Clock show, Arthur a judge on DWTS Irl
If these two children grow up with problems, it won't be because they have two dads. It will be because this attention-seeking pair of idiots wheeled them out at every opportunity to generate more money for themselves. They know they have very little actual talent and that their sell-by date as reality stars could peter out at any time. If they keep taking the kids out for photo shoots when they sense their attention is waning it'll keep them on the map. You'll notice that lots of genuinely talented famous people try to keep their kids out of the limelight. That'd be career suicide for this two.
Depends on the quality of the parents. One good parent is better than two bad ones.
So Brian Dowling is really uncle to the children while his husband is their father.
They didn't use her egg
Indeed.
Congratulations to Brian and Arthur on the birth of their new baby daughter, and to Blake on your new baby sister.
This sort of whatabouthery comes up every time there is a mention that mixed sex families may be better for children's development than same sex ones.
It's as if there isn't a single bad same sex family and not a single good mixed sex one.
Agreed but law of averages
And his sister is the mother and aunt. Lord help us.
This x 100. It always gets brought up in these discussions.
Not the sane as 'ideal' and more akin to the oponion of idealogue than the one you countered. And the ideologues tried to enforce this with a ban on divorce. Didn't usually end well
... or vice versa.
Being gay/straight/male/female has no bearing on if your ability to parent
If these two accessorise their kids then they're bad patents because the accessorise their kids - not because they're gay.
I'll go further, I'll give western civilization a century or more to see which if any is better.
It's way too early to decide.
I see you almost completely edited your post after my reply.
Of course it's a case of good and bad parenting but it's also a case of is a mixed sex parent household a better environment for child development than a single sex parent household.
As I said, give it a century or more, it's far too soon to make a judgement on it.
People aren’t seeing the wood for the trees here. Let me summarise. A pair of attention seekers are seeking more attention. Ignore them and move on with your life. They don’t matter.
My apologies about the editing, but the gist is the same, just felt I was being tooong-winded.
I feel you're arguing more in favour if traditional than sane-sex, but I'd argue traditions cone with expiry dates.
One way or another,i doubt there's any scientific evidence to back up.your claim that 'a sex parent household a better environment for child development'.
its an appeal to said tradition rather than anything based on early childcare researc.h
You quoted the wrong poster.
Same sex households are far to new to determine if they are better or worse environments or the same for children to develop in.
As I said give it a century and then we might have a better understanding.
Then the claim can't be made one way or the other.
LATE ADDITION - i quoted the correct poster - you, at 7.32pm
Not that we want to get too bogged down in this wider discussion but perhaps there should be a conversation had about parents photographing their own children and posting on SM. I speak in terms of that dirty lefty woke term ''consent''. Namely, children don't have any, in these situations.
On the lower end of the scale, you might have pictures of the kids at the beach that they might not feel happy about in future years. On the more serious end of the scale, an employer could google said child in years to come and find them at some far right immigration protest with their parents.
I recall coming across this interesting reddit thread on the general subject, a while back.https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/t3txgc/aita_for_not_deleting_all_of_the_pictures_i_have/
Coming back to Brian and Arthur, like most of these stories, it's probably a bit of a symbiotic….. or parasitic relationship with the tabloid newspapers. They are no doubt directly selling their stories but by the same token, the likes of The Scum/The Mirror and others are also just being lazy at times and trolling SM for celebrity news.
Rightly or wrongly, celebrity baby news will draw attention.
Getting tired of seeing these two daily in certain media outlets.
I dont click and yes I think I need to reconsider my news outlets.
at least they used an Irish vessel? i think , the irish media seems to be celebrating taking advantage of poorer women from Eastern Europe etc. it doesnt feel right
Its amazing that Handmaid's Tale and Brave New World were considered dystopian yet the type of ideas they put forward around childbirth are today considered the most wonderful thing in the world by certain sections of society .
I feel sorry for any child who doesn't have both a mother and a father its unfair on them and they are being denied something they should have an entitlement to as a human being, sometimes there is nothing can be done about it in the case of death but I think deliberately bringing a child into the world without both parents is not right and is incredibly self absorbed on behalf of the parents.
