Is the recruitment Freeze over with the announcement by Minister that hiring is to restart?
I think only certain post have being approved for hiring
That was always the case but is the announcement above in preparation for a full lifting of the recruitment freeze. Maybe in anticipation of a Nov election..Are other bodies going public with calls for it to lifted because they have been given a heads up that it will be ended soon..Anybody know what situation with expiring panels is? Will they be automatically extended?
Forsa which represents admin and middle management threatening strike action if freeze is not ended looks very much like a cynical attempt to claim credit if they have been told it will be ending soon.

Hopefully it is. I see some adverts for admin type roles trickling through. It's very frustrating so many stuck in positions that are unsuitable etc. A lot of staff under huge pressure also. A lot of departments could be whittled down to say that it's an outdated organisation is an understatement!
I asked HR today (I work in the HSE) and their reply was "No official HR guidance/correspondence has been issued on the matter thus far". It may take sometime but that is the case with everything in the HSE 😫
I wish they’d hire a team of IT specialists to organise a coherent medical communications system across the entire health system.
The freeze is still in place. The article just says that funding has been approved for 2,200 posts which is nothing new. No official announcement on it yet unfortunately
Yeah I know but at least there will be some movement..hopefully it's the start of the end of the freeze! With elections looming and mounting pressure from stressed out staff we might have more positive news by the end of the year 🤞
I really do hope that there will be some type of action soon. I’m guessing once the pay and numbers is approved the freeze will lift
Remember the spineless Government gave into the unions to ensure AI couldn't be used to do some of the admin related tasks. The unions and their supporters who engage in this type of reform blocking so that resources could be better spent saving lives have blood dripping off their hands.
Counterintuitive but perhaps the less admin staff the more efficient the HSE will be. A lot of these admin jobs are pointless and they end up creating pointless reporting and admin tasks for the Frontline staff to complete. So nurses and healthcare workers spend an inordinate amount of their time filling out pointless admin forms. Reduce the admin staff and organization would be much better
The organisation is top heavy. The bulk of money wasted is on all the top tier Management teams and Directors etc. They are on huge wages. Admin staff are often overwhelmed by the amount of work they have to do but that comes down to how out of date the organisation is. Their time could be spent serving the public better if the organisation was moved into the current century! This has been my experience as an employee anyway.
Not questioning that admin staff are overwhelmed but is a lot of the admin work they do not a bit unnecessary and pointless. Reports, statistics and health and safety procedures created for them by managers and consultants but really of no benefit to patients.. And do these admin staff create admin work for the Frontline staff that reduces the time they have to actually treat patients.
I agree a lot of tasks they are given seem nonsensical but you have to do what you are tasked to do. Coming from the private sector it was a shock but they don't really appreciate suggestions. I certainly feel like I'm sitting on my hands because I can see so many other tasks I could be doing that would make systems work better but alas nope gotta do what they have been doing for decades...
Psychiatric nurses and Sinn Fein latest to call for lifting of embargo so further indication something in happening soon..

I would hope that when it does lift, everyone waiting on panels will be given offers. It will be interesting to see how they go about it
Particularly as many of those panels will be due to expire..Will they begin a new recruitment process or extend the panels?
When is your panel due to expire? I’m guessing to extend panels they would just extend the deadline on the existing panel rather than creating a new recruitment campaign.
They will fill a lot of positions internally as many need to br filled urgently

Seems like it could be in place longer than expected, compared to the articles last week saying it was lifted
Yup..Earlier articles hinted at imminent lifting..Bernard Gloster seems to be pulling back from that in article above. So back to not knowing when it might be lifted..Could be months
It’s actually draining at this stage. You don’t know what to believe anymore they’re all coming out with different statements
He is under huge pressure now though so hopefully by the end of the year there will be movement...its beyond a joke!
Hi,
Does anyone know if the recruitment freeze includes TUSLA Clerical Officer positions
No they have had competitions for clerical officers not so long ago
Thanks, I applied for that campaign, made it onto the panel and passed the interview so just waiting for another update.
Best Of luck with it, kind of wishing I had myself now with this embargo showing no signs of lifting 🙄
Awh thank you so much. Hope all works out. I also applied for the HSE campaign, passing stage 1 and 2, with no update since March.
Does anyone know if the jobs being interviewed for at the moment are pending lifting of the embargo? They said they are awaiting derogation for the post. I am on the panel and not too sure if that derogation is granted if the embargo is lifted or if derogation is being granted slowly to some roles?
Derogation is being granted very slowly for some roles, but there are delays at every single step of the way. First getting permission to advertise positions, then interview, then to form panels, then to offer jobs, and then to actually get a start date. There is little sign of the embargo being lifted in the short term.
