Fair enough, but it's a strange hill to die on if you're browsing the internet at all.
You have to accept cookies which I have no interest in doing.
You can be sure it will be a fudge of a clue.
You can view images on Instagram if you don't have an account.
Yeah pissed off with that. What about people who don't have an Instagram?
Will be interesting to see how they are going to give "the biggest clue ever" for the Nova Noise contest. Apparently they are going to show a video on Insta of them making the noise over the Bank Holiday weekend.
whats the craic with the promo for the funniest comedian competition, not particularly funny, and I'd be fairly sure not original material.
Heard the lad on Sunday morning calling a band The Go Go Dolls
Bet it was Matt Dempsey, his gaffs are legendary: Procul Harlem, Foster the Children, Cheryl Cole…
Pat Courtenay isn't on on Saturdays.
I have heard some wrong musical "facts" given with confidence by a couple of presenters on Nova in the last few years.
today on nova - 39 years to the day since live aid, they played 'born to run' and the DJ (pat courtenay i think?) mentioned that his performance on live aid was a key moment in springsteen's career.
after the next song played, he read out a text pointing out his mistake, and sheepishly admitted that springsteen didn't play live aid.
Funny when they play clips of listeners saying they love the variety of music, something they don't get other stations.
Which reminds me….
I would say I heard a few more on Nova, but they are the only ones that come to mind. Incidentally, I have heard a few other examples on other radio stations by presenters who were actually interested in their music selection!
Maybe it should be brought to the attention of Nova's Fact Finder where they offer to check out 'stories' you may have heard !
Yeah it's sponsored by Prepaypower. It's so factually incorrect, it's awful
Yeah Is an advert essentially.
I assume he didn't write that. Just have me a chuckle that they're giving out incorrect info in their supposedly factual content.
That's PJ.
just heard an 'ad' on nova; one of the morning show presenters, doing a 'we're doing this in conjunction with an energy supplier, to give you tips on energy conservation' style PSAs.
anyway, he explains that the short cycle on your washing machine is not necessarily more energy efficient than a long cycle - which is true. but he goes on to explain that 80% of the energy used is in heating water - and in a short cycle, it heats the water to '40 or 60 or whatever' in a short time, whereas on a long cycle, it takes longer to heat the water to that temperature, which uses less energy.
gave me a laugh anyway.
I mentioned this before but I even got it in the car in Whitehead, north of Belfast! Lost it coming into Belfast but it came back once we left. Aided by the sea path I'd imagine.
I can access it on FM as far as Longford on the Dublin-Sligo route!
Drogheda is on the border between Louth and Meath.
I'd listen to Nova every day, mainly for PJ and Jim but they really need to change the playlist. There's only so many times a person can listen to Sweet Dreams or the Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite.
There's always the app too.
That would be because it is licensed for the commuter belt as well as Dublin, unlike the other stations referred to.
they have a ‘fill in’ transmitter in Balbriggan and AFAIK run more power from Three Rock than any of their Dublin counterparts (98/104/Spin etc) so that’s unusual (unless you’re in an area sheltered by those signals). Think the Balbriggan frequency is 100.1 so you may have more joy there.
Radio Nova is licensed for Dublin and the commuter belt, so it does not have to cover much of the north-east. That said, it comes in loud and clear around Drogheda.
Makes no difference. I remember going to a concert in the point years ago and there were people outside promoting this new station nova. When I told your man where I was from he said 'sorry you won't be able to get it there, the signal gets weaker outside Dublin'
If you switch to the 100.1 frequency it should be a bit better.
North east. I used to drive to Dublin a lot for work and I would usually stick on nova but the reception does not travel well as you head north.
