Irish Water Connection Timeline

I'm in the process of building a house and just starting the application process to Irish Water to have our services connected.

Their site mentions that it can take 16 weeks to have a connection agreement finalised and then 12 weeks from when the road opening license is secured.

Does anyone have any experience on how realistic these timelines are?

Would be great if it was quicker but I've heard storied that this part of the process can take a significant amount of time.

I'm building on a site that already had a house there previously so that might speed up the process if pipes are already in place?

With IW it will be done when it's done. Existing pipes makes no difference, it's capacity that they are checking.

I've had one turned around in 3 weeks and another 5 months, single dwelling connection. 16 weeks is actually quick for them at the moment tbh.

I applied but it lapsed but that took 4 months to get just the connection agreement, the second time around it took 3 days!! No kidding. I had referenced my previous application so it was easy for them to reapprove.

I'll tell you in a few more months!! Haven't reapplied yet, waiting closer to when the scaffolding comes down…!
