In your opinion, but a lot of people will just want to see the price of the drink on the shelf. I'd prefer that anyway because I know I'm going to be paying the deposit on top of it.

If I was reporting I'd also copy Re-turn.
Important details would include organiser of event, trading name of stall, reg. no. of vehicles etc.

I agree with the deposit scheme, dont get me wrong.
I just think more people would be onboard with it if they had built the deposit scheme into the existing price, which was the fair thing to do, since you previously owned the can/container (not just the contents) upon purchase.

if 10 euros buys you the cans and the beer yesterday and today 10 euros only buys you the beer; 10.60, including a DRS, is a price increase.
For fecks sake! I really dislike the scheme, but you are not paying any more for your beer as you can get the deposit back.
OK, let's break this down.
Say it's five cans at €2 each total €10.
The DRS deposit is 5 x 15 cent total 75 cent.
You take your cans home and drink the contents and then return the empty cans to an RVM receiving a voucher for 75 cent which you can cash or exchange for goods.
Total cost to you for the contents of the cans €10.
Are you complaining you don't get to keep the cans like you used to? The cans you disposed of?

Prior to the scheme, 10 euro is the price of the contents + the cans. (or whatever container your product is packaged in).
So prior to the scheme, the price of the contents was less than 10 euros.
Prior to scheme: 10 euro = Can/Container + Content
Under the scheme: 10 euro = price of contents only
Therefore, 10.75 for the unreturned cans + the contents is a price increase of 75 cents.

I am not complaining about anything. Just making the point that you dont get to keep the cans (or any other container for other products covered by the scheme) for the same price that you used to.
Ergo, the price for container + contents has increased.
I think you at least understand the point.
Why? How much were you getting for the cans before this? Or is there some sentimental value attached to them? Net cost is still €10. But you keep posting 'incorrect' that'll change facts for you if you do it often enough.

You are nearly correct. The deposit was zero before the DRS came in. Now it is 15 cent or 25 cent. So the increase is on the deposit, not the beer. For that reason, you will see them shown as two separate prices on the shelves, and listed as two separate items on your receipt. The beer is still the same price.
Its been mentioned many times already. Base prices (before deposit is added) have gone up due to the upfront costs / extra staff hours needed to run Re-Turn. 2.2c payment per container for a shop / retailer doesn't cover it.
I didn't get the reg number of the vehicle or indeed the trader names. I will get in touch with my LA who no doubt will treat this with as much seriousness as they do chasing unicorns and counting sheep before going to sleep.
I doubt Re-Turn could give two fcuks about a Nordie outfit selling Nordie stock down here. Would cause an international incident no doubt.

Good, but there have been examples posted on the original thread of items going up.
Just on this. I appreciate the points being made are in relation the DRS portion on top of the old cost but lots of items based prices have increased significantly since the DRS came in. 1 such item is lucozade zero. Used to be 2 euro a bottle with the price emblazoned across it but since Feb or march of this year it's gone to 2.20, a full ten percent price increase. This type of increase has happened on many many items since DRS. A cynical ploy from the manufacturers to muddy the waters even more than they were.
Your approach to this while interesting is failing to take into account our new reality.
We have moved on from cans with no value to cans with value, currently 15 cent.
You only forfeit the 15 cent if the cans are not returned.
Therefore the contents are yours to enjoy as you please for the same price as before.
You make a perfectly valid point. And empty can has some residual value and that has been robbed.
I don't dispute that. But, as you say, the points were solely regarding the Deposit scheme.

Nope. A deposit is part of the purchase price; not an additional pricing line.
They are two separate transactions. Check your receipt. It will show your beer at the same price as before.

Whther you attribute the increase to the container or the contents, the total price of the goods has increased.
It's a separately itemised item at the point of sale. Check your receipts!
