What's that about?
What's the craic with Euros podcasts? I haven't listened to every pod for the past week or so for various reasons, did they say there'd be daily ones or late night ones or what's the craic?
I see there was one last night, but not Sat, is that right?
late night pods.
they don’t work Saturday night so I wouldn’t expect them then
Is this a new thing in tournaments from them? I can't remember, although I do remember whining that they didn't do weekend ones during tournaments before.
Are these on top of the normal Mon-Fri pods?
They don't normally do Sundays either, as far as I know.
It’s for the Euros. I have it in my head that they’ve done it before but I could be wrong.
It’s not on top of the pods, they are the pods during the Euros.
The Sunday pod surprised me. I wouldn’t expect one next Saturday. Do you?
No, I wouldn't think so. But then I didn't expect one yesterday.
I only caught up on the Euro preview pod yesterday, was it James Horncastle saying this tournament kinda crept up on people. I'd never been this unexcited at the start of summer tournament before, that's completely changed since Friday. I'm 100% on board now.
(Meanwhile, it is unusal for RTE not to do an evening highlights show, there doesn't seem to be one today, and again I thought I saw some of one yesterday.)
Just got the email for the new one.
I think they just did them as normal for the 2021 tournament (but Ken wasn't there), I remember there was moaning about the lack of weekend ones, think there might have been late ones for the last World Cup can't remember.
They showed highlights and had short bits of punditry for all three matches immediately after they finished the post-match for Austria-France.
The embassy audio bed needs to be binned. And I preferred the shorter pre Qatar version of The Littlest Hobo one.
They did the late night pods for the Qatar world cup too.
Pedantic peeve: Murph has recently been using the word genuinely (emphasis on genuWINEly) over the past few months. Seems to come out of his mouth nearly every second sentence recently. Not sure why he has to preface all his takes with this. Its his new wheelhouse.
I don't know about you, but I really enjoyed that Diego Torres excerpt today - the guy can write.
The Czechs are making as bad a stab at Portugal as we did but Portugal aren’t being as clinical.
Sign Big Johnno before United hire him to replace Ten Hag
pedants corner: Murph referred to the upcoming golf major as the British Open. No such tournament exists, it’s called The Open which is not always played in Great Britain.
It’s the British Open and calling it The Open like it’s an American university is never not funny
Yeah, i know it's not the same but there's something "World Series" about it.
I mean, you might call it the British Open but it’s called The Open.
Also, it was a joke. Pedants corner is a joke.
but it was 'the open' when it was established (and still is). there was no other golf tournaments.
McClean comes across as a decent skin.
The ones where you have to explain afterwards that it was a joke are always the funniest
You reckon the boys writing into pedants corner are serious?
Man, we've been listening to different podcasts.
Jamesy going in on Rice was great
It was only a joke
I see what you’re trying to do… genius 🤯
Major exposé on todays show that the Hungarian football fans and Hungarians in general are of a strongly nationalist persuasion. How would I have worked that out without Ken’s vital reporting on it today? I guess I never would have.
Tomorrow, Ken reports from the woods on the latest bear excrement developments. 😁
Does anyone else think Ken sounds like he's had a few jars on these after match reports? I know it's unlikely as he's at work! Is there a bit of a slur to his voice or maybe it's the connection - in fairness he has form
I mean he’s at games the majority of days likely roaring to communicate with people if not at the match itself. My voice is dodgy after a NFL match in February, nevermind a week of Euros matches. Some of ye want to find demons in every corner.
I'm not saying he sounds a bit horse, but a bit tipsy!
I don't think I've ever had to roar in a stadium to chat to the people around me outside directly after a goal or something else like that.
Unlike yourself at an NFL game, I doubt Ken is roaring at the match itself.
