Just found the above chart backing up what I have been saying for years.
Global warming is a wholly natural event, if humanity disappeared tonight, global warming would still happen.
The RAPID buoys did detect weakening and also increased variance, which indicates instability

I love how deflectors on this thread constantly state that unpopular green policies have nothing to do with the Greens.
But it is, and the electorate knows it too and have been destroying the Greens and their continuing nonsense
Computer generated simulations again.
Correct me if I’m wrong but this report is saying a collapse of the AMOC is unlikely (medium certainty) in the 21st century, no?
So a majority of Dublin City's councillors, coming from various parties, are being told what to do by the Greens & Ryan? 🙄
If your ideology is anti growth don’t be surprised when people get pissed off about lack of growth in infrastructure when we are told we are richest people in world, and then have this party openly support more importation of migrants
Here in Galway the environmentalists repeatedly blocked progress, so good luck to them ever again getting near political seats while people remember

But my ideology isn't anti-growth so?

You have been educated with facts regarding the failed Galway Ring Road project yet continue this rubbish you've made-up that somehow it's the greens fault. Do facts not get saved in your head or are you simply trying to troll these threads?
oh so you're in galway. where is the 10km segregated well paved bike lane in galway you told us about that you've never seen a cyclist on? i thought cycling infrastructure in galway was notoriously bad, maybe i'm wrong.
See my previous comment: The elephant in the room is German politics and their domination of the EU. The Greens don't hold a political majority anywhere, when they hold the balance of power, they have an ideologically driven agenda that they pursue irrespective of the costs to you and me. Back in 2010, they kept FF in power just to get stag hunting banned. Fast forward to 2020s, Oh deer there are now too many. Eamon Ryan has been very effective in steering the Greens agenda and we will be left with the costs of the Greens in power for the next decade.
ok keep putting fingers in ears and going “lalalalala”
No wonder Greens are being wiped out, the arrogance is something to behold
I used to agree and give a preference to Greens but like many have become disillusioned with the lies and the anti scientific stances and these policies:
in the current climate, to be pro growth you have to be pro immigration, we are already at full employment. for every new multinational office that opens, you need cleaners, canteen staff, security guards etc.
how can you fill these positions without immigration these days may i ask?
Simple, technology and science and engineering
Most of the growth in the markets in last few years came from innovations like AI
It’s already happening but I can see why this is a difficult concept for modern day Luddites with a green tan
By immigration I am specifically referring to badly educated illegal migrants from countries that have medieval religions based on hate and cultures that hate us and our way of life, throwing their passports in toilets, I’ve no issues with well educated migrants like doctors and nurses and construction engineers who pay taxes and integrate
technology science and engineering will clean the toilets when a new company opens, gotcha.
you're making up stories about non existent bike lanes and playing populist bingo. stick to the journal comments ffs.
We don’t need to import half the world to clean toilets ffs 🤦
Somehow Japan has worlds cleanest toilets with almost zero inward migration
Japan would like a word with you .....
yeah so we can transition to a japenese style society that developed over 1000s of years, is wary of outsiders and has always been an isolationist inward looking society and also has it's own indigenous industries and homegrown megacompanies that keep their economies going.
let's do it. that should be easy enough right?
Start by lifting the stupid ban greens placed on new datacenter connections which is about to drive Amazons AWS out of Ireland
After all we are told that our electricity is soo greenwashed with perfect green tinted electrons now, there shouldn’t be an issue right right?
sorry that's your solution to not needing immigrants to do unskilled jobs that irish people wont do?
Ask Japanese or South Koreans
i don't know any. how would you go about transitioning to an economy that doesn't require immigrants to do low skilled jobs that irish people don't want to do?
AMOC collapse is a bit like end of snow predictions or ice free Arctic predictions. Climate models with no demonstrated skill predict an Atlantic meridional overturning circulation collapse, so it must happen, right?
The scientists in the body of the study above admit continuous monitoring of the AMOC only started in 2004, which is a very short baseline to make long term forecasts. There have been other attempts to reconstruct the recent history of the AMOC, which have produced far less conclusive results, some models even put collapse 1700 years from now. In the absence of a credible source of a fresh water impulse on the scale of Lake Agassiz, the lack of clear understanding of exactly what happened 13,000 years ago, short evidential baselines, and the absence of firm observational evidence of a looming AMOC collapse, I've already crossed this off my worry list so I’m not going to lose sleep over claims we are approaching an imminent major climate tipping point.
By building a big DC interconnector to africa and have them generate power by pedalling millions of bikes 😂
I mean if we gonna push mad ideas like unproven and expensive offshore wind, let’s go all out
you just talk absolute sh*te. not worth interacting with.
Sounds ideal tbh. 😂
This is a bit of backtracking on your part, from outright denying that AMOC shut down was possible. When it was shown that the AMOC did close down and cause a sudden return to Ice age conditions in the North Atlantic - now you have retreated to its only a model and can't happen because there isn't enough of a pulse of cold water - based on what ? You want it to be that way.
The North Atlantic current has been shown to be weakening and the mechanism of why it is has been identified (cold fresh water melt from Greenland). Forgive me if I take actual scientists word over your hunches. It doesn't take a full scale shutdown of the AMOC to have profound and devastating impacts on life in the North Atlantic basin - the area I depend on for a sustainable life.
The evidence comes from multiple sources and not just models;

People are getting jaded of the doomer negativity of the greens. More EVs on the road, the greens want to retain dangerous roads rather than build properly engineered replacements that are safer for everyone and which frees up congested towns so they're safer for pedestrians and cyclists.
Would Macroom prefer to go back to trucks on the main street? Yet the Greens insist that Charleville and other communities along the N20 must endure that.
They're a hobby party at best.
Funny how you think that, yet I need a way to get to work as does my wife, and we go to 2 separate destinations....no form public transport passes our door or even withing a few miles and to constantly use a taxi for one of us is unfeasible....so yes, two cars are needed in our house hold, just like most households. Especially in rural areas. BTW, as kids become adults, they will require they're own cars too, so many rural households can end up with 3 or 4 cars.
It is all very true.....no matter how much you try to deny it, local coucils hands are tied by the policies created by Government. In this case, the Transport and Enviromental policies created by the Green Party! The ultimate blame lies with them.
Tis probably a more likely and cheaper solution than spending 680 billion on 1900+ Turlough Hills to offer backup for a couple of weeks of only a quarter of the 37GW of highly unreliable wind Eamon proposed
