we put over 30,000km Pa on a 201 LR and it’s still doing that mileage with my sister now, well over 100,000 and counting. It’s used a supercharger no more than a handful of times as a precaution, and never more than a splash and dash.
So this offer would have effective zero value for us, even though we were v v high milers.
I think Tesla know that too. The positioning of the SuC’s isn’t exactly confident enough to abuse the free 20,000
I had free SuC on 2xModel S’s and used them twice!
First time was a pure “let’s go a for a drive” to castlebellingham to try them. I was collecting something in Dulek so just said feck it.
Second time was Dublin to Belfast. I purposely didn’t charge the night before as I said I’d stop and grab the free juice. With charging in Belfast is was a quick stop.
There’s no SuC within 30 mins of me so I’d be in the same boat as yourself.
I had free SuC for two years with my S and used it a lot, got a few Scotland trips out of it and would just take my time when passing a SuC and fill up. I've had effectively had free SuC with my 3 for the last two years and used about 1000kms of referral credits, difference being they are all 10 minute stops given the charging speed.
I got a 32a commando installed in work so now have little need for free SuC and look on it as a potential wste of referral credits
Could I ask what charger do you use in connection with the Commando and what charge does that give you. Thanks.
Commando socket and the Tesla UMC gives 32a charging once wired correctly back to the consumer unit Or board.
just to add, the UMC that comes with the car is 32a so all you need to buy is a 32a commando plug which is €48, it could be our voltage in work but I get exactly 7kW charge rate

Quick couple of questions about this, as I've a MY coming soon. I get really cheap power in the early hours of the morning. If I was to put a timer switch on a 32A commando circuit (obviously a beefy one that can handle 32A) would that be enough to automatically start & stop charging? In other words, when the juice comes on at the socket, do you need to do anything in the car or Tesla app, to actually initiate charging?
Does the juice suddenly stopping (without using the app to tell the car it's about to stop) cause any issues?
If I park up the car during the day (when the timer has the juice off) is there any problem getting the charge port to open & accept the type-2plug?
(For anyone wondering why I don't just ask the car to internally start & stop charging, my understanding is that the Tesla software can only start, not stop, on a schedule.)
It’s a dumb set up so probably not. The timer appliance would have to be capable of taking 32a for sustained periods.
You could just open the app and start the charge manually and stop it manually yourself.
Mrs LightHugger might not be completely onboard with the bedside clock going off at 2AM & 5AM every day! 😃

Just wondering, How much charge would I need to make the supercharger in Ballycolla?
If I need to top up in Kill, how much charge would I need to get from Kill to Ballycolla?
I guess the car will tell me but a complete newbie here.
I live 10mins from the Mahon supercharger so the plan is to use that for my 20k free charging but there's no way my wife will put on 20k in 3 years.
Her last car had only 22k after 5 years so the free charging will be wasted on her.

You could set the start time and then roughly calculate the % gained over the 3 hours and set your limit at that % in the car or Tesla app. Personally I just prefer the convenience of the smart charger allowing me to schedule the times but there's no reason why it can't be manually set for each session on the car or app.
Just doing some googling....It seems there are some 3rd party apps that can control the car, to stop and start charging at set times. Also, there's an open source project on GitHub that apparently can use the Tesla API to do it. I work in IT so might have a play with that.
Anyway, lots to think about, after I get the car.
Ballacolla is approx. 90 km from Kill, so if you have 150 - 180 km range then you'll comfortably make it. A quick splash and dash should suffice. The battery will start to precondition on the way so that you'll get optimum charging speed when you get there.

If an LR, you can get 4.85km per percent @100kph on a dry road at 15C with little wind :)
So if you wanted to make Ballacolla (99.4km), you'll need 21% showing.
Set the display to % from the off, life will be easier.

also the 20,000 free supercharger km's are useless to me
not travelling across dublin to avail of it , sure it be €7.20 using toll both ways , and pob cost this much to charge at home anyway so ……………….. anyway of getting something else than free charging from Tesla ?
No way to get something else, Tesla is a no haggle web priced model and in-house staff have no latitude to flex which IMHO is actually progressive. It will be handy on longer trips but as you said, not a deal breaker for you

Ye don't want July, July will be big price hike if a M3 on order due to tariffs, Tesla are passing on to customer
RWD in blue. It'd be great to get the miles but the 0% makes a bigger difference to be fair so as long as that stays with the order I'll be alright.
also the 20,000 km is non transferable anyway

Supervalu in Newcastle has a few ecars/ESB chargers. It's a handy spot, not too close to main road but not too far either.
On the M50 there's applegreen at ballymount.
Avoid the single plug at newlands cross, always "taxied".
