…and Galway (is that possible?)
It is a shame really - had a big grasp of the issues; he does big kms on the bike here in East Galway and further afield(cycling holidays) He certainly understood issues that even candidates from the other side of the political spectrum who are in far more cycling friendly party's struggled with.
you can be guaranteed doherty would not have made those comments if cannon was remaining in the party.
interesting that the journal described doherty's comments as 'outlandish'.
Hopefully, a road safety czar will be appointed by Govt, and Cannon would be prime candidate for role.
Just on a side note re upcoming elections - Feljin Jose (Green) is running in Cabra/ Phibs area for councillor - has been involved for many years with Dublin Commuter Coalition. I hope he does well.
Although im not in his constituency, i hope Feljin does well in the election. I read in the paper today that he is getting some awful abuse thrown his way by the usual headbangers
Word is he's topped the poll. Delighted for him.
Yeah its brilliant
unfortunately the GP candidate in my area (next one over; ballymun finglas) has done badly on the first count.

Unless i'm missing something where does it say "Cycle lane".. just says "Laneway?"
Yeah, see that now. I think it was the referring item which put cycle lane into my head which is how I then read the above article.
Don't think there's any cycle lanes in Clonmel, good big payout all the same.
Very sad, RIP.
Edit: will just leave it at that.
There's at least one along part of the N24
Awful stuff.
R.I.P., and condolences to her family and friends.
Ouch!
he shared a before and after photograph showing substantial damage to his helmet. The chef said the accident took place earlier this week. He clarified that he did not "break any bones or suffer any major injuries" but was "a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato", I'm in pain. It's been a brutal week. And I'm sort of getting through it". "I want to wish you all a happy Father's Day, but please, please, please wear a helmet. If I didn't, honestly, I wouldn't be here now."
i guess there was a car involved? to smash up a helmet and also suffer that sort of wide blunt force bruising doesn't strike me as the sort of thing you'd suffer in a simple fall.
I've never seen the likes of that - you'd probably have to have the car wheel run you over a bit?
severe bruising and internal bleeding does that
Depends what he landed on, kerb, barrier etc.
Why is the advice always wear a helmet?
It's never improve road craft, braking technique, route selection, sh1tty infrastructure etc etc
Richard Branson has had two big crashes, but the second one was notable because on top of warning people to wear you-know-what he said that he wanted people to know that they shouldn't make a habit, as he had done, of resting both hands on top of the handlebars with the thumb above the bars, as when you hit a bump you can lose all contact and control. He said this as if not a lot of people know that. But I suppose at least it was practical advice, of a kind.
Alot of people don't. Once it's said, it's common sense but I remember Morana here pointing it out to a regular who posted a near miss.
Not sure what that means exactly?
