Good episode today.
Yeah I thought that was a great interview, lots of insights and sounds like a decent book.
Very much enjoyed it, sounds like an absolute slog of a career.
I think a lot of individual sports have a very similiar trajectory - its really good to hear these stories, if only to put some context on how difficult it is to get to the top of a sport such as tennis.
Anyone else's episode not come through today yet? Got the email but pocketcasts says no new episodes
That Gasquet story was funny, the cheeky f*cker.
International soccer tournaments are just fancy summer camps for journos, aren’t they
This happens to me regular, but on castbox
Pocketcasts is usually like clockwork but still no sign of it yet. Very annoying...I could just listen through the email but it's not the same
it's there on my pocketcasts
Snooker tour is the same, players flying all over the globe hoping to pick up a few ranking points, most of them barely making a profit never mind a living. But according to SC snooker is only a sport when Ronnie is playing 😛
There's only one audiobed worth listening to.
"You'll be watching it and you'll be pulling the plum off yourself!".
The rest are either too long, sh1te or both.
Hoping to hear more of Ken eating down the microphone.
Murph being a Jarlaths fecker explains so much
Was there any episode released today? Or maybe they won't be recording till after the Scotland game
I think they said they will all be late episodes now the euros has started
Scotland are a disgrace to world sport
Finally a team has made the Euros that can reasonably embarrass themselves even more than we did in 2012
I love our Celtic brothers
Still a reasonable chance they get something from Hungary and Switzerland though
we had the 2 finalists in our group along with Croatia who had Modric, Rakitic, Perisic, and Manzukic. There was nothing embarrassing about it. It was a group of death for us.
Ireland had a bit of luck in the group, and we somehow drew Estonia in the playoffs, we were blessed to reach the tournament and my God it showed when we got there.
If Scotland can lift it they have a shot of getting out of the group, it's definitely not as tough as Ireland's Euro 2012 group.
What luck did we have? Qualification was fine. We were unlucky not to beat Italy. We conceded 7 goals. We were not blessed to make it, we earned it.
They’re getting such a flaking here their confidence and goal difference will be shot.
Somehow getting a draw against Russia, when Ireland should have lost 6-0, the Armenian keeper being harshly sent off, getting the worst team in the playoffs.
3rd place was 4 points behind us. Take the one point away and we were fine. We qualified for the playoffs comfortably.
Against Armenia in the final match, all we needed was a draw at home to qualify. I’m fairly confident they would have gotten the job done without the red. Wed a very good record under Trap at home.
Drawing Estonia was lucky and we dealt with them handily.
We looked really good going into that tournament. We deserved to be there.
Scotland look like they have an expert set piece conesman
Someone slip him an offer for Ireland job
Italy were in our qualifying group for the 2010 World Cup, not the 2012 Euros.
While I don't think it was outrageous that we finished second in that group - I don't know if you could say we looked really good going into the tournament. The team didn't look as strong as it had two years previously. Turned out to be a bridge too far in the end, even if the ridiculous level of the other teams in the group did us no favours.
Yeah, I had Italy and Russia mixed up in my head.
We were not as strong as 2 years earlier. I think it’s a bit ridiculous to say we were lucky to get to the tournament. We were not. Needing a draw against the 5th pot team on the final day for a play off is as comfortable as were ever going to get.
Then when we get there, Given is fighting an injury.
We were never getting out of that group. There was nothing embarrassing about it. We faced 3 unbelievably strong teams.
Same group Albania have this time - albeit perhaps less threatening versions of each team. Still, be interesting to see how they get on.
Ken giving out about the Irish fans singing Fields of Athenry in 2012 was funny.
