Separate discussion for the EU election results.
Waterford already has a Green TD (who'll likely lose his seat at the next election)
Moscow Bosco as one person on Twitter called him.
The Dutch look at things as wrong but not their place to decide things.
Weird people in away, class driven and old school networks at levels Eton would blush at
They thoroughly deserve their kicking.
The plastic bottle scheme, Roderic O'Gorman and his integration department, the endless carbon levies, etc. All stuff they've been pushing hardest that lowers our living standards and increases our cost of living.
My only question I have for Moscow Bosco is does he call Putin daddy when they're at it.
Came in to see if Wallace's goose is cooked yet…. I leave satisfied.
(Moscow Bosco - that's a good one!)
We'll see what a general election throws up
How super is that supercomputer and what data is it working with? I reckon Mullooly will struggle to get that last seat. Unless he gets a lot of transfers from Aontu but I reckon many of those will go to Sinn Fein. Aren't Aontu just the Pro Life Provos?
All in all, a poor election for United Russia. Probably why they don't do democracy at home.
In Dublin Aontu transferred far more to Niall Boylan than SF and the same was repeated in the South with transfer to McNamara.
It's not the Aontu transfers that will win it for Mullooly - It'll be the FF transfers after. Those definitely ain't going to SF in large numbers
Anyone else think we need longer than just the two extra days before the rest of the EU votes for our voting day to vote in these European electiobs. All the rest of the EU have more or less decided who they were voting g for abd because of our voting system we are still only sorting the votes out. Its a disgrace. Either we vote like every other country does for the EU elections next time or we get more time next time because our system is so slow.
Mulooly will saunter home unfortunately, no fan of SF but give me them any day over Mullooly and his lot.
who’s his lot? He’s an independent
Lynn Boylan already elected in Dublin:
He's a member of a political party full of climate change deniers and casual racists.
ok, thought he was solely independent
On the face of it II just seem like a lot of middleaged, mostly angry barstool pundits who are more interested in making sex for rent legal. What have they got after that's sunk in?
Would there be much crossover there? Hard to get into the mindset of someone who’d vote for BOTH Tóibín and Flanagan.
how so? You think gildernew will benefit from his surplus more than
Mulooly?
It's looking like the Euros will broadly reflect the locals in terms of success...4 each for FF & FG 3 x IND (incl. so called INDs) 2 x SF & 1 LP...FF shot themselves in the foot with the 3 candidate strategy in MNW. Greens poor local results reflected in Europe, they'll be worried about the GE.
The narrative in the media has been very one sided against SF unsurprisingly.
Blue repeating myself on this but anyone who thinks none of these schemes aren't part of mainstream politics are deluding themselves, especially these days.
People who beat the greens thinking none of these things would happen without them will be in for a shock.
There's no issue with us doing our own thing and having a very democratic system. Our election wasn't held "two extra days before the rest of the EU": The Netherlands held theirs on the 6th of June, the day before us. Estonia started theirs on June 3rd. We just usually do elections on Fridays, and Germany and France usually do them on Sundays. It's a cultural thing, and we shouldn't be embarrassed about it.
In fairness. Did anyone really see that coming though? Was a bit of a shock and deserved the reporting it got. Haven’t heard a peep about the greens shitshow however
And he really got onboard with climate change denials in his little videos on the run up.
Yeah, he did shameless opportunism.
It's interesting that RTE news keeps asking SF about their terrible result as if they made no gain, but they hardly mention the Greens actual losses.
They keep calling it FFG big win, yet it's independents that have seen the 50% bounce on the last local election.
I'm not for a minute painting SF's gains as a massive success and of course it's noteworthy but the coverage has been OTT and a bit giddy by sections of the establishment media.
The Greens have lost their two MEPs and half their seats and hardly a word!
No issue with us holding our vote a day or two earlier, that’s our decision. Would make zero difference to the count timeline as no country is allowed to commence counting until all counties have voted.
Euro elections an aberration, and they regularly throw up random results with protest votes, eg UKIP winning in the UK in 2014 with 24 seats out of 73. That was at a time when they had no seats in parliament. Fast forward a year to their May 2025 general election and UKIP managed a grand total of 1 seat out of 650 in Westminster.
Come out next GE, Sinn Fein will still be the main party. Whether it’s enough to form a coalition with other left-wing parties is unlikely so it’s almost certainly a SF/FF government.
