Separate discussion for the EU election results.
As they are Kelleher's surplus you could expect them to fall even heavier in her favor, maybe 4 or even 5-2-. However there will probably be a few that are not transferable
If that's their core I can't see them maintaining any cohesion. They appear to be mostly just opposed to refugee dumping on small communities but don't want to labelled as far right racists. Most would probably fold back into established party if a dedicated asylum centre was established so there'd be no more surprises like what happened in Roscrea.
They're all smoke and daggers 🤣.
I'm sure a good chunk of his vote is basic "sticking it to Dublin", but after that what else is his core vote? Would he get back into the Dail if he loses his current seat?
Why is it supposed his 1st pref vote came from Wexford?
Unfortunately, there weren't tallies done in every county for the EU election, but there was one done in Clare, and Wallace didn't do well at all. His core support is Wexford, just as McNamara completely ran away with it in Clare. All politics is local, as they say.
Wexford? It's a huge constituency.
Not as much as it used to be
I'd say there's virtually no chance of him standing for the Dail again, wy would he do that having being elected twice? As far as I know he had only intended one term in the EP and only stood this time because of the sh!t thrown at him in the media.
Wexford people already knew what he was like in 2011 when he topped the poll and was elected on the first count.
Even if some of the Wexford voters didn't know what he was like in 2011, there were absolutely no grounds, other than contrarian, to re-elect him to the Dail again in 2016, yet they did.
Someone else pointed out also that Waterford was a stand positive for SF at the local elections, so they'll probably gain more than Putin's bitch will from the south east outside Wexford.
So you're saying he only stood again, because the media were being mean to him? and not the free ride for another year?
Hopefully he runs and is exposed as the creepy quisling traitor that he is
I know a plenty of wexicans who have friends and family in the building industry who were left out of pocket by that crook.
be great to be rid of him and daly in the one go and de platform putin and assad
Wouldn't his TD pension increase with the additional years (of contributing f-all) in the Dail?
Wallace is 68, and will likely be 69 by the time the next election happens (birthday is November). If the pension is your motivation, you have to cash out at some point to avail of it.
Dont forget he has all his employees pensions to get through too
Wasnt Legalising, or decriminalising, prostitution considered a progressive policy about 10 years ago.
Back then it was the right and the religious groups that were against it. The Netherlands was considered a forward looking country by most on the left when it was legalised in 2000 and classed as a profession.
Not that I am advocating for legalisation, mind. Bit to infer that it is some sort of right leaning policy is simply incorrect.
Sh!t thrown at him in the media = factual reporting of his actions as an apologist for the murderous, fascist Russians
Count 19 South (Kelleher's surplus votes redistribution)
CNM could even overtake Funchion
You seem to just not like their weird Ukraine propaganda and voting record being reported on… I and others are happy to see them out because of it.
No Boylan, Daly or Wallace, this is a lovely election
Looks like many voters want the current govt but don't want the Green Party in it.
SF could still easily end up with 3 MEPs - MNW now the next show in town. Mullooly vs Gildernew.
Peadar Toibin us ex-SF, and a border TD but Aontu votes have gone a lot to Independents elsewhere
Imagine bringing it to the doorstep and telling parents that their kids will have more career options though.
I think the Dutch experience was more about facing up to legacy industries that were illegal but tolerated because they had the biggest concentration of stevedores in Europe.
Same with the smoke shops, they're really only in certain areas. The netherlands also has a biblebelt too.
3? Who's the third?
Sure Pippa reckons they've had a good result.
That's all you need to know about the Greens. At least the Shinners took it on the chin, well for about 48 hours anyway
Grace O'Sullivan just released a statement upon the announcement of her exclusion.
I might not agree with her politics, but applaud her exiting with dignity……..unlike her former South MEP colleague who threw the toys out of the pram!
I hope she sticks around for the GE, Bit of class about her.
If she was leader (probably no aspirations) the greens won't suffer like they are going to in the GE.
If one of the main parties focus on a green enough agenda/plan in the next government, there is no need for them.
Short lived hope for Wallace seems to be gone. Good
So Gildernew (15) v Mullooly (85)
and
CNM (70) v Mick Wallace (30) Percentage chance of being elected in brackets (according to supecomputer)
