Just found the above chart backing up what I have been saying for years.
Global warming is a wholly natural event, if humanity disappeared tonight, global warming would still happen.
So you actually want SF in power? The same SF who are the largest political party objector to house planning applications in the country?
But you want the GP to go into power with SF to solve the housing crisis 🤦♂️
I personally would like to see a SF government. Until we see their housing policy in action we can all play fantasy politics.
Oh I don’t really blame the GP- I blame the planning system in Ireland and I blame those that use the planning system to hold up new builds and infrastructure to make the government look bad.
I am not so immature to believe that the Greens are in the driving seat of this government. If a policy is enacted it is because FF or FG want it enacted.
Christ- we’ve a live one here. So you want SF- again I’ll state the biggest housing objector in the state- to get into government to build more housing to solve the housing crisis. Have I understood that correctly or misinterpreted?
Who was in the driving seat in the council seats up until recently?
SF are not in government and they control no council in Eire. Their impact on housing is marginal at best.
nope.

It's very immature to exempt blame for one party for the failings of a coalition.
If the Greens weren't comfortable with the housing crisis they could have done the right thing by withdrawing.
I'm not surprised really. I remember TD Mary White telling everyone to move on and stop complaining after the bank guarantee. The electorate moved her on after the guarantee led to the IMF bailout.
Anyone believing the Greens are above politics are stuck in the good vibes jamboree days before they elected a leader.
Yeah, lets keep the current shower in power, smashing homelessness records every year! Go team FFG/Greens.
Thats what it took for them to lose your support? What about even further back when Gormley's Green Party, were trying to impose charges on people for water use, in one of the most water rich countries in the world, and trying to bring in other Green charges. A tactic still being used by Ryan's Green Party, only this time they are actually getting away with it because the other 2 Government Parties are too spinless to stand up to the Green Party for fear they will pull out, forcing a General Election.
Thankfully The nation seems to have copped on to this, judging by the local election results. Over 120 Green Party canidates ran nationwide and only 23 elected to 6 or 7 local councils, from what can be classed as largely urban constituencies.
Again though.
Who are actually objecting to housing getting built?
FFG/Greens policy seems to be favouring rent investor developments which SF rightly oppose.
The government actually spaffed public money outbidding first timers buyers to house those on waiting lists. It would have been cheaper for the nation to build housing rather than handing it over to investment funds.
The housing minister previously worked for an Irish private pension fund that's coincidently heavily invested in rent farming.
what do you want to be called? What name and pronoun?
Green
green
environmentalist
greenie
watermelon
?
How should we refer to people who bought into your “ism” ? So we can start doing that without constant attempts at derail conversation on a tangent
Do they? A previous very green poster linked government documents showing something like 70% of the carbon taxes were paid out in social welfare in the form of the fuel allowance - i.e. a subsidy for fossil fuels. There was a discussion/argument about it in this thread 12/18 months ago.
Legally binding until the laws change. See the Netherlands current row back after they formed a government
Realists.
If you understood the issues surrounding water you wouldn't argue against the setting Up of irish water - but you clearly don't so to discuss them would be pointless.
The only issue I ever had with water charges was that we were already paying for water through our car tax and there was no talk of reducing that - so it amounted to a stealth tax.
As a long term country dweller who provided my own water supply for over 20years I fully understand that water is not free and the more you use the more you have to pay. This simple reality seems to have escaped most people.
Your on the wrong side of history even though you won the battle. Your still paying for water but in a deeply unfair way that penalizes anyone who attempts to conserve a previous and expensive resource.
Realists that’s deny reality of their policies not only being unpopular but actually counterproductive to stated aims of CO2 reduction?
Realists that are in denial that they got politically wiped out across the most environmentally concerned continent on planet?
Yeh realists is not the word that comes to mind, pull the other one
You love your gloating.
The majority of policies have had positive impacts so I fundamentally disagree with your premise here. You may not agree that those impacts are beneficial - but so what
Life pro tip; understand and learn from your mistakes instead of doubling down on stupid
The mistakes you imagine are not mistakes.
Fanatics more like who'll who'll shield their hypocrisies with untangables.
Trevor Sargent didn't really change career when he was ordained.
Denial has a powerful soporific appeal.
Stop please stop, my sides, can’t stop laughing 🤣
Denial of what?
I don't deny climate changes, I don't deny the anthropocene.
I challenge the assertion that green politics is above reproach, and it looks like I am not alone judging by the election results.
Nothing is beyond reproach - just people trying to do their best in dfficult circumstances.
I will stop when you do. Come on now be the first.
All your comment does is prove you do nothing but make assumptions.
First off all I never mentioned anything either for or against Irish water. My argument is with the Green Party and how if anything, all they gave done is make matters worse by turning peole against the Green movement.
Second of all, Concerning Irish water seeing as you brought them up, I know full well that water processing is not free. I too am from a rural upbringing, and grew up in a house where we had our own well, that along with the power to run it, was paid for by my dad. But the fact of the matter is Gormley's Green Party were introducing charges for something that was already being paid for by other taxation without reducing or eliminating that taxation.
As for understanding the issues, I understand them well enough, and from the looks of things, better than you. I made the mistake of voting Green Party once and we got Gormley's pack. Now we have Ryan and his lot back in Government, and quite frankly if you think they are not pulling the strings, you are pretty naive. The Green Party only got back in because of their numbers to prop up the coalition, and now the other 2 are scared to say no to them for fear they will pull out, and the Green Party is using that leverage to get what they want...the carbon tax and it's subsequent increases, being case in point. The return of the duties on fuels returning to pre cost of living crisis rates, despite the fatlct that the crisis has not finished, being another. It was the Green Party called those shots.
Thanks to the Green Party, there are families currently having to choose between heating and feeding. A lot of families are not even breaking even and have no savings left over to save for home heating fuels for the current winter. 1 family I know have cancelled their bin collections and using the grandparents collection service to get rid of what they can't take to the "local" recycling centre 10 miles away.. Another family I know are picking up any abandoned timber pallets they find and cutting them up for the coming winter.....those are acts of desperation! How many other families are in the same boat, thanks to the Green Party.
..
Nothing beyond reproach?
Question any green policy and you're labelled a climate change denier.
It happened already today after I had already provided examples of humanity adapting to changing climates over millennia.
This is important because it shows that Greens like to think their policies are scientifically infallible, which is actually more a faith based stance than scientific.
