I had some panels added to my system recently. Original install last year had 10 panels on a single string and worked fine.
The new setup is 9 & 4 split but hasn't been connected properly yet. Electrician was out a few weeks back and couldn't get the new string going.
I'm told voltage coming in from the 4 panels is correct but the string is not registering on inverter. They swapped over the strings and the 9 worked on both PV1 and PV2, the 4 doesnt work on either.
They are due back again this week. According to their office a firmware update was required and they can see it's 'working' now but not yet visible yet on the app but, once commissioned it will. Don't believe them as I can see my app stat are in line with esbn readings.
Interested in hearing if anyone here has any insight. It's a solis inverter and all 13 panels are the same brand/ spec

Any optimisers? I've a Huawei inverter and the installer needed to activate the optimisers in the inverter. Panels didn't work until then.
No all panels on same roof with no shading
It should just work as the MPPT inputs usually need a min of 80v to start and that voltage should be available with 4 panels, even with low enough light.
Yeah might be that especially if the layout wasn't mapped by the original installer.

I just want to give a massive shout-out to you for your reply. back in April. Since then I sapped out my Garo for a Hagar. And I have had zero trips since then. I cannot thank you enough. It is still early days, the Hagar is only in 3 weeks, but I would have expected multiple trips by now
Look at the inverter specs. Isn't it 150v minimum per MPPT ? Don't think 4 will cut it
Look at the VOC on the panels, and subtract about 6v
But forget about the app. Look at the inverter screen. See if you can find PV2 voltage
The startup voltage is voltage under load, not VoC, I think it is 120v, and even 4 panels is right on the line for it to start, and might only start in full sun.
Yeah inverter screen is much better than any app.

Looking at the start up spec,120v is correct. It's a Solis S5 EH1-P5K-L. Both the roofer and the spark did say they were happy with the voltage coming in though. It been wired up the last few week but not a peep from the 4 panel string. I'd have thought it would come on at some stage even if 4 panels is borderline.
Bet it will light up with 5
If 5 are required I could be waiting months for them to reconfigure ffs :-)
Any photos of DIY fence mounted panel installations? I got my hands on a few secondhand 250W panels (for free) and thinking of mounting to the E/W fencing in the back garden. Standard 1.8m concrete posts with wooden panels in between. Where are people getting microinverters these days?

If you went portrait there, would you get 2 on each "fence panel"? They are ~1.7m long usually no?

Pretty prompt, but don't know if there are cheaper out there. Then get one of those openDTU kits for 40 quid for the telemetry. Probably afix it with a hinge at the top too so you could angle it out in the summer time when the sun is more overhead.

I got 10 year old 250w panels and rails and put them on my folks shed a few months ago. They are working fine. Gives them a few kWh a day. Every little helps!

You might be able to affix directly to the concrete posts, they do have rebar in them though.
It's an optical illusion, the width of those two panels together is 2.25 meters. I think my fence is about 1.9m.
Guys, question for you.
Below is plot of consumption, it looks like at certain times of the day (mainly when the house load is very low say 100- 200watts) that the time period either side actually shows zero load which can't be true.
Now if I look back across the last few days since install on some days that period of "flat line" has lasted for upto 1 hour.
I called it out to the installers and they opened a TT with Solis who investigated and said that is normal because load is very low.
Not sure that this is 100% correct as I have some other Tuya switches that can measure as small as a couple of watts consumption?
Just wondered if anyone else has seen this behaviour, or could it be a dodgy ct or even the position of ct?
If I look at the ESBN HDF file on that too I see zero load at times but that would be related to the sensitivity of the Smart meter I guess?

Of course, the graph is scaled to 4kW, so it could be a rounding thing for the graph, but not necessarily that the inverter is not supplying the load, or that zero is being consumed.
That is normal for Solis inverters.
