He still has Blighe to come who I think will transfer heavily to Wallace as the only other one of similar ilk left in the race at that point.
But it looks like Kelleher will reach the quota with Mullins transfers.
Which will help Ni Mhurcu get a larger share of O'Sullivan's transfers.

There’s literally zero point spending millions on machines and maintaining them to then do a full manual count after. The cost is very much relevant.

I'd agree and I think Wallace is someone who attracts the contrarian vote rather than for any of his policies. Which is why I think he'll do well from Blighe. Given that the Greens are currently in government with FFG, I think a substantial amount of transfers should go to them from O'Sullivan because of that.

Count 16, Doyle's transfers are in and Daly continues to benefit more than Ni Mhurcu.
I didn't expect O'Sullivan to get that many transfers though. Could she get past Ni Mhurcu? Unlikely though considering she'll benefit from Kelleher being already elected.
Remember that John McGuirk has a history of being very wrong on political things, and is disobeying his own promise to stay out of politics if he was wildly wrong about the Repeal vote (which he was).

Michael McNamara will get the most transfers from Blighe, they're both positioned as anti-immigration.
That's all grand, but these long counts only interest a tiny % of the population.
Given that we had <50% actually vote, there are pressing issues there in trying to increase turnout.

Probably, but since McNamara at this stage is home and dry, it's only Wallace relative to Ni Mhurcu that matters.
We tried that twenty years ago, finding a 'more modern way' with no clear vision of what it was going to achieve and why we were doing it. It cost us €70 million of taxpayers money.
'More modern way' isn't a good reason for throwing technology at a 'once every 2.5 years' process.
Have you found a scanner to take the 75cm long ballot papers? What's the business case for an expensive, electronic system that will get used for a day once every 2.5 years?
We definitely need to do something about the 'waster' candidates - even changing the rules to allow them all to be eliminated at a one swipe would make a big difference.
Feed based scanners exist, and indeed existed before flatbeds - they absolutely aren't the issue here.

Looks like it's good thing we didn't have a larger turnout. If we had another 10% turnout, you could add another 2 days of counting.

Ironically Paul Murphy attacked PBPA at the time, for costing him a seat, it was a bit of an exaggeration at the time, now that he's one of them he clearly 'forgot' about 2014. This time around, BS while not the only factor in Daly's defeat it was the decisive one. In fairness to BS she was a tad embarrassed at the count from what I believe.
PBPA are in for a tough GE, all of the seats are vulnerable so a little karma may come their way.

Past long terms voters did come out and vote SF though. They increased their vote since the previous local elections by 2.5%. Since the last locals FFG have lost 6.3% of their vote. In the Europeans they have equaled their vote but will gain at least one extra seat.
The last general election was a complete anomaly for SF where people who never voted SF came out and voted for them.
