Every other country have their MEPs elected, at least provisionally, and they're all putting their names down for whatever different committees they'd like to be on, ours will be left with the shite no one else wants

The EC are on a break anyway so there's no huge rush to put names on seats.
I'd rather this, an open count done by people. I'll take a day or 3 for a count above the immediacy of Conspiracy Theorists blaming a cumputer.

To be fair, Comrade Daly probably struggles understanding the concept of a free press. I mean, she probably expects the same sort of coverage she gets from state propaganda outlets in Russia and China and is shocked and surprised by journalists able to do their job properly and ask awkward questions. It is very "unfair" she can't get the same free pass here so her outburst is completely understandable. There is obviously some nefarious plot against her when the journalists here dont roll over like lapdogs in the dictatorships she bats for.

It should require a refundable deposit of €50,000 and 6,000 signatures.
But either way, we need to move to a system of electronic counting of all our STV elections. Get the results done, with a handcount completed for verification.

As we speak, the new Parliament members are meeting all over Europe, coalescing into technical groups, composing agendas for the next 5 years and making plays for the big jobs that are available as we enter a new term.
The Irish MEPs aren't there because the majority of them haven't even bloody well been elected yet!

Nah. Our local radio station covers general election and local elections counts in full (Ocean FM) complete with a YouTube stream and it's actually fantastic viewing. The coverage should be rolled out across the country as it gives phenomenal insight into how voting works and the importance of going the whole way down the ballot. They also do tallies for every single box in the constituency which are incredibly accurate. In fact, only 5 tallies were done nationwide for the European elections and 3 of them were conducted by Ocean FM and their team from Sligo ATU.

RTEs coverage is dog manure in comparison. The problem is people are so attuned to getting things immediately nowadays.

This counting by hand thing. It consistently produces mistakes. The recounts this week produced different results!
No as we have Single Transferable Vote system and it’s more complicated to count. I think it’s a good system as votes are not wasted and gives other parties a chance.
Yes it’s slow, buts its interesting and exciting and it’s one week max every 5 years. Good for politics.
Lived in Netherlands when they had electronic voting and results of general elections where instant. It was a real anti climactic non event and not as transparent as here.
