Separate discussion for the EU election results.
i remember possibly gilmore, maybe more likely rabbitte, being on some radio show and the presenter (kinda smugly, but maybe that's the vagaries of my memory) reading out a question from a listener - 'are you going to apologise for not implementing things you promised in your manifesto?'
rabbitte (if it was he) responded with 'if i am to apologise for that, i have to apologise for not actually winning the election outright. we did not win. you get to implement your manifesto if you actually win, so yes i am sorry, for not winning the election'. he sounded slightly exasperated, but my estimation of him went up.
Is there a geographic breakdown after the European elections for each candidate within a constituency? ie, can we see if support for Wallace was fairly distributed across the constituency or if it was mainly local and we can scapegoat Wexford for embarrassing the country on the European stage 🙂 ?
He's a decent skin. I went to school with his daughter(K). Normal family from Clondalkin Village. Always give you the time of day
all ballot papers are brought to a single count centre in each constituency with nothing on them to distinguish where they came from.
So if we blame Wexford people for Wallace being re-elected they can't disprove it 🙂.
All politics is local and he probably picked up more votes there than anywhere else in the constituency.
I'm sure it will be available. Given the vote he did reasonably well all-over but I believe Cork and Clare he was strong and I assume Wexford.
Hopefully he makes it if for no other reason to give two fingers to the NATO shills in the media and academia, long way to go though.
I think NB will stay ahead to get the 4th seat at the final elimination. He's getting enough transfers from Left candidates to keep his nose in front.
No it will not.
Unlike locals where you can tally votes from each box as they are emptied, EU counts have all ballots already emptied beforehand.
You would need to tally all EU votes on Saturday at the sorting of EU vs local ballots to figure out where a candidates vote is coming from.
By the time they get to the count centres there is no way to know which ballot came from which locality.
He did take a fair chunk off of steenson but thats likely due to steensons anti immigration stance so it remains to be seen if that will continue now we are getting into the party candidates, Doolan of SF is next and id be surprised if he did proportionately as well from transfers from SF especially since Lynn is still there to snap them up, maybe he will off Aontu but i have doubts of it continuing beyond them.
Where can people see the 3rd 4th seat in Dublin going? I hope Nialll Boylan gets a seat
Flanagan then - another 'stick it to the elites' type although not nearly as Pro-Russian/ NATO bad as Wallace and Daly
Steenson was constantly on Boylans radio show as well
If there'd been the bodies for it, they could have been tallied at the box stage (the local tallies were done as the papers were separated); indeed a small few boxes were.
Boylan X 2
Flanagan is positively professional in comparison to daly or wallace
Not sure about that - sure they're in the same box so if there are people available to tally, then at least some data will be available. Marian Harkin was on RTE talking about MNW and she was keen to emphasise that her data was based on Sligo/Leitrim boxes
RTE saying counting in MNW only restarted at 11…..
The length of ballots made it far too hard to do reliably. You would need a huge amount of tallymen to get it done
How is Flanagan a 'stick it to the elites' type? He fought well for CAP reform, defective blocks and other issues in Europe for his electorate here in Ireland. He's one of our better MEPs in terms of actual results.
What has Maria Walsh achieved? Or Chris MacManus?
The idea that Flanagan is a Russian stooge is misinformation peddled by a few posters with chips on their shoulders
Looks to me like either Cuffe or AOR has to get in as one will get a massive wodge of the other's transfers
I expressly said that I didn't think he was a Russian stooge - but Flanagan's whole schtick has always been against the elites. His catchphrase in the last election is that he felt the Dail was just the Monkeys and he wanted to go face the Organ Grinder. Yes he's more active than the other 2, but he is still definitely in the contrarian camp

No rush lads. 🙄
As someone else has mentioned, if Andrews or Doherty are still short of the quota, they'll hoover up some/many of those transfers.
Have you skin in the game with Boylan?
Correct. Will take another 2/3 counts before a clearer pictures becomes established
Not a bit. But I think he has a great chance with the lead he has and given his relative transfer friendliness.
Transfer friendliness with the right and the bonkers (Steenson) does not equate to anyone else left bar maybe Aontu
Possibly a lot of Cuffe's transfers but not so many of AOR's?
Flanagan has tempered the early days contrarian stuff he had where he was shouting against the elites and the bankers. Completely different politician nowadays focusing on the right issues in his constituency and a decent one at that.
NB got nearly 50% of the transfers AOR received from the 'bonkers' lefty Ogle and 66% of the transfers AOR received from emtremist Green, Cafolla. So you just wrong I'm afraid. 😊
Receiving less than the people below you is not good.
Ogle's vote has plenty of rabble-rabble-anti-everything in it; what little there was.
