Separate discussion for the EU election results.
did the returning officer say there was 9,000 spoiled votes ? Did I miss hear that ?
Christ those SF numbers aren’t great.
Dublin first count announced. Doherty and Andrews well ahead. Lynn boylan in third and likely to get a seat. A real fight for 4th as expected.

*approx 38000 votes among the various indos and micro parties (NP/IFP/IF/IP Rab etc)
So Nial Boylan got almost the same 1st pref as Aodhán Ó Ríordáin (~30K) and 8K more than Brid Smith.
Yep, looking very unlikely he'll get a seat.
I'm getting a vibe that posters are gonna be complaining about the transfer process tomorrow. 😂

Doesnt look great for Niall Boylan.
What about Ao'R, where would he get transfers from I wonder? Nowhere either.
Seems EU / Europe has lurched RIGHT, considerably, relatively. From Euronews, it seems much of the youth voted far right.
So add a possible Trump win in US .. dangerous times ahead .. it IS the late 1930s again.
How does transfers work, is it the candidate ruled out who decides where their votes goes?
He was asked that earlier and said probably wouldn't interest him
This is going to be a really interesting poll to watch for transfers.
If you take Andrews and Doherty as being safe, well then for the other 2 seats you have -
Lynn Boylan looking for running mates votes, plus small numbers from independents.
Clare Daly hoping for large transfer from Brid Smith (outside chance of reverse)
Niall Boylan hoping for all those independent votes to go his way.
O'Riordain and Cuffe probably mutually transferable depending on who survives.
My guess is O'Riordain and Cuffe actually scraping it, as they are seen as 'sensible' left candidates and could get transfers, while the others have split their votes too much, often in spite of each other (Smith Daly)
No. The #2 preferences on their ballots.
Not that surprised on Boylan, but transfer wise I am not sure, IFP etc sure but others? I think people think he is favourite for that 4th seat but I am not so sure.
Maybe Cuffe still has a chance...but maybe Aodhan O Riordan more likely based on that...who knows.
Oh no doubt, the transfers are rigged etc.
People before profit and Social Democrats would be two they would have high hopes for. I think the 4th seat will between Labour and the Greens. Clare Dale is a bit of tricky one to predict. Her votes could go either way, but outside of that I cant see any of the other big vote getters transferring to Niall Boylan.
Social Democrats maybe? There's 16k 1st preference there, he could pick up a few, but so could Cuffe
Ireland south EURO count stopped for the night, resumes tomorrow morning at 9am
Depends on who you ask tomorrow I suppose but works the same as in all our elections
Not having a go at you but there appears to be a huge amount of people that haven't a clue how voting works here. The government should be running TV ads, online ads, radio ads etc on how to vote and how the process works.
Regina Doherty is a bit dull.
Will Andrews and/or Doherty have a significant suurplus to distribute? Surely that would favour Cuffe heavily over the other main contenders?
There are approx 38000 votes to be transferred from the independents and micro parties like NP/IFP/IF/IP/Rabharta
Then 10000+ each from Aontu and SF, then 16000+ from SD
would it not be the next available preference?
I.e if my second and third choice had already been eliminated by the time my first preference is eliminated then my vote would go to my 4th preference?
Another one falls ..
Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo announces resignation. Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo announced plans to resign after the defeat of his party, the liberal Open VLD, in the country's federal elections held June 9.
How is John Waters doing?
His leaflet was gas.....
NVM, entirely wrong. Ignore this.
I wouldn't say that entirely even Le Pen has softened the approach no exit like the british even the Italian far right party has also. Maybe these 5 years will make everyone reflect on the core values be that centre left or right and we will come out of this stronger (Europe I mean) Hopefully whoever is in will keep support for Ukraine
Totally Clueless 🙈😉
Boylan very unlikely to make it , simply not transfer friendly enough as even both the FFG candidates ( Andrews and Doherty) are from the left of FF and FG
