I thought it might be useful to create a new thread to comment and analyse the Local Election results.

Was he elected?
Absolutely nothing but now he gets paid a salary to be a bigot. It's all part of the gift.
Earn more than 7k a month by housing Ukrainians?
Ban the culchies
That depends, do they have any control over the fire brigade's budget?
20 seats for Fine Gael already. Some people obviously like the misery
Most people aren't miserable though
It's clear that there's not much misery for a lot of people!
When people don't want change they are generally happy with the current setup. It also points to an opposition that doesn't really offer anything different.
I saw one of his videos where he said "Travellers are the original Irish. They lived here before any of us".
I'm not kidding.
Some of his tweets are barely literate.
and people think having this idiot on the council is owning the libs etc. and are delighted. he has nothing to offer anyone.
'looking likely to' I believe…
Do I dare?
He looked to be doing well in the tallys alright, but not exactly transfer friendly. I see people already screaming online it's a conspiracy if he doesn't get in...lol how predictable.
Thankfully wagon Dolores Webster nowhere near getting in
milking it like a cow with four hands while calling everyone a disgrace. Only in Ireland.
It helps when the value of your house has skyrocketed and you don't have to pay any tax on the first €14k you rake in from renting out rooms/granny flats/sheds.
100% correct. You hear about the homelessness, migrants in tents etc which is terrible for those affected but the reality for most is that they are comfortable to the extent they won't take obvious risks with their situation. The vast majority do not live on the breadline in this country which is why "the left" have real difficulty making any kind of breakthrough.
He's a waste of space. Going round spreading hate.
Conor McGregor's a fan of his.
Councillors have nothing to do with immigration anyway and his whole platform is anti immigration.
There was a documentary on rte few years back that had something like that in it, something like their DNA is more similar to ancient Irish, high kings etc. than the rest of the population
SO much for the people being fed up with FG and FF.
Doing rightly. Appears SF dropping back badly.
Council elections don't mean a whole lot. who you know, who lives closest to you, who'll fix the road, help get you a council house etc.
No one gives really gives a crap about the euros but they'll be more interesting to analyse than locals.
People are actually giving the Greens votes 🙄
If I remember rightly Fianna fail did did well at council level after they got gutted in the general election in 2011.
It just seemed that fg got some ff defectors who've returned since.
Another upside down comment. Nobody gives a crap because they don’t want to admit MEPs legislating power usurps Irish TDs legislating power. Mind boggling how inept this comment is.
That's not true, I'm completely miserable 😃
no seriously, my daughter and partner are effectively homeless. Both spent 5+ years in tertiary education and both are semi-unemployed. My daughter has worked in a middling public facing role on barely above minimum wage for the last 8 years while trying to build her own business and refuses to seek social assistance as it would expose their illegal accomodation set up with their unregistered landlord situation. But they don't have choice as there is literally no where else to live. He suffers mental health issues for which there are no services available and both struggle to see any future for themselves in this country. That's the reality that faces many many people, especially younger people in this country.
Also, their digs is damp riddled and I'm fairly sure she would shoot the person who would suggest she needs to just open the windows and clean it more often.
They don't understand, ask around to you see if people know what MEPs actually do.
The National Party candidate got 6.3% of the vote as well so likely a good chunk of those will transfer to Pepper and an Aontu candidate with 6% that might also be somewhat transfer friendly to Pepper.
Their lineage diverged from settled people only a few centuries ago.
Their DNA is the same as ours.
fair play folks off all ideologies, keep the posts coming on who’s getting in… cheers
Fine Gael having a excellent day - there is a lot of rich landlords and dairy farmers out there but there’s more than that voting Fine Gael then again the Healy Raes are cleaning up out of been landlords and they are topping the polls all over Kerry . A great day for the rich and landlords !
Eddy Fennessy (SF) has edged out Emer Toibin to top the tallies in Navan with 14% to her 13%. It's a Fine Gael 1-2 in Kells, with incumbents Sarah Reilly on 14% leading home Eugene Cassidy on 12%. It's neck-and-neck in Laytown-Bettystown with 4 candidates on 13% each - Sharon Tolan (FG), Stephen McKee (FF), Geraldine Keogan (Ind) and Paddy Meade (FG).
