Separate discussion for the EU election results.
Dun Laoghaire tallies so far.
From RTE
Preliminary indications suggest the predicted increase in support for hard right candidates in the Dublin European constituency has not turned into reality.A number of boxes from Dublin City Council areas suggest support for Fine Gael senator Regina Doherty, Independents 4 Change MEP Clare Daly, Sinn Féin senator Lynn Boylan and Fianna Fail MEP Barry Andrews.Notable support is also apparent in the area for Labour TD Aodhán Ó Riordáin, People Before Profit-Solidarity TD Bríd Smith and Green MEP Ciaran Cuffe. However, while preliminary suggestions appear to show that Independent Ireland candidate Niall Boylan is receiving support in Ballyfermot, this does not appear to be reflected in other areas.Preliminary indications also suggest other right wing candidates are also not receiving as significant a degree of support as suggested.A trend is also apparent of most ballots only including preferences in the single figures, with few ballots seen so far in Dublin City Council including preferences for all candidates.

Ciaran Cuffe looks toast in Dublin.
Bit early to tell yet?
I had read that the local election counts started today and the Europeans tomorrow. That info was clearly wrong.
No the Euro data is from tallies. People looking over shoulders as ballot papers are flattened on the table. The formal count starts tomorrow.
No it's correct. They've only been separating the ballots up until this point. All the data that you are seeing is from tallymen watching that process. The actual counts have not yet begun.
I'd be very reluctant to write anybody off in Dublin at this early stage. That constituency's final seats are going to go down to the wire and will depend on lower order transfers.
Great news if that transpires.
He's done.
FF, FG, SF will all take a seat. It doesn't look like he'll even be ahead of Daly or Labour for the final seat.
I struggle to get excited about EU Parliament elections. We send 14 to a parliament of 720 and rarely hear from them again. A good result will be getting Daly and Wallace out of it but beyond that, I won't be too bothered.
A mouse in one of the boxes in MNW 😂
Even at this early stage Cuffe looks gone. May be a hard working MEP but I'd say it's the performance of some of his party colleagues that has done him in rather than himself.
Totally agree, the most influential MEPs we've ever sent over there are Daly and Wallace. And that was just to be a total embarrassment for this country.
Influential or high profile?
Based on what information? Francie Barrett aboves tally’s from Dun Laoghaire? It’s very early to write anyone off and I imagine the Greens will transfer well in Dublin. Once Daly and Niall Boylan don’t get in I’ll be happy.
Ming leading tallies in Donegal constituencies by far. Close to 30%
A number of boxes from Dublin City Council areas suggest support for MEP Clare Daly
This is a joke…
I stand corrected 👍
Relax - it all depends on where those boxes were from. She will always have support close to her electoral area.
I think Boylan (Niall) could still do it
I'm surprised with Regina Doherty's support
I’d say the low turnout 50%? will count against Sinn Fein in Ireland South and Midlands Northwest. It’s no secret SF supporters are not enamoured with Europe and it looks like they haven’t turned out at all to get a vote out for them.
Chance for FG and FF to get a fourth candidate elected in MidlandsNorthwest in Carberry and Chambers and due to the above Guldernew could be in trouble also against Toibin and Mullally there. Funchion apparently doing well in Ireland south particularly Waterford. Hopefully McNamara gets in there also.
Even if O'Riordain takes his seat?
FG and FF will not get 4 seats between them MNW. That is delusional.
Ming is a definite to get in. After that one of Guildernew/McManus will get over the line.
Walsh & Carberry have a better chance together compared to 2 out of 3 FF. Blaney has little chance, Chambers will poll better but likely neither will do enough to get in. Cowen will.
Mullooly is the big question mark
Hi Eamonn!!!
I meant one of FG or FF getting two seats not both of them. Either Chambers or Carberry might sneak through in the fifth spot if Gildernew doesn’t turn out a vote. But not both of them. That fifth spot will be riveting to watch.
Don't think that putative second FF/FG seat can only come at the expense of SF. I'm not as convinced about Mullooly as some…
Well I didn't vote for her, though I'm in Kerry 😁
Why do you say he's done? Genuine question, I have no clue what the tally's are saying…
Again local boxes so far I'd say
Her posters in Clontarf had "Vote Regina" !
But does she not live in Ashbourne? She had been a TD for Meath.
