I wonder, given how the Right tends to love blaming others, if and when Reform and the Tories crash and burn will they blame the Left? Maybe even accuse Farage of being a plant? If Lizz Truss is taking shot at the Bank of England as a leftist organisation it doesn't seem entirely beyond the realms of possibility with this lot.
Cognitive dissonance right there: it's assault, no question, but the target is an abhorrent shyster so I can't divorce a sense of delight either.
Yup
There's already been "whispers" about the mail.in vote and people calling for it to be banned, its the Trumpification of British politics and can see it getting worse, fully expecting howls of "RIGGED ELECTION" after the GE especially from the right as the Tories lose seats and Reform dont perform as well as they expect.
Fully agree that it's assault but also cannot find a shred of sympathy for him, I felt the same the last time it happened to him and SYL.
No. The Conservatives are too weak and Farage wants to lead them or replace them. The only way a pact would work is by the Tories offering him a nice, safe blue seat to run in for them. It made sense in 2019 for him to stand down candidates but the Conservatives are so weak now and Brexit is done that he may as well go for the throat.
The Conservative party cranks have been doing that since God was a boy. Lord knows they've blamed "the left" for interfering with their catalogue of cretinous cruelty.
As for Farage, it's impossible to sympathise given his leeching of taxpayers' money, advocacy for Putin, racism and refusal to just go away. Not condoning it either, mind.
The missile from Emily Maitlis looks more destructive IMO.
That image looks not unlike the old AH trope - blast him with p1ss.
Which would still be too good for him, TBH.
Was Maitlis always this forthright and I just missed her career at the beeb, or is the shackles taken off? Cos I've seen a bit now of her speaking to a predominance of right wing spoofers and she seems to delight in asking pointed questions on the hoof.
How safe is Clacton do we know? Presumably safe enough Farage is taking the chance now the Trump Wagon has lost a wheel ...
No admirer of Farage, I can't see how voters could support him and his lies. But,
1, Assault like this is just driving politicians awayh from the voter base. There should be zero tolerance for anyone throwing coffee/tea/beer or anything else at a candidate.
2, Emily Maitlis seemed determined to put words into Farage's mouth. No need as he lies enough anyway. Not really responsible journalism. ( I hear the same with Claire Byrne on RTE today. Why try twisting what politicians say. Someone like Farage digs enough holes for himself anyway.
The latter, I would say. Recall that the BBC relentlessly platformed him despite his having no influence beyond being a workshy MEP.
I'd say this is her doing the journalism she always wanted to do and now she has the pedigree to properly do it professionally.
He was on newsnight i think the other night along with Wes and a few others. He talks utter bollox. I have no idea why he gets so much air time.
Question Time, and yes.
Any predictions on the debate tonight lads? Reckon Starmer will go hard on Sunak making a shìt ton of money during to 2008 crash, will be interesting to watch them Duke it out without their big book of replies/excuses they usually carry into PMQ's.
Ide try let Sunak do all the talking and then just laugh at all the stupid claims he tries to make.
Not planning on watching it but for Sunak off the top of my mind..
Honestly think Starmer and Rayner will destroy any tories they put up against them. If you've been paying attention to PMQs it's basically been the two of them showing up bad rishi and his cronies are. Mordaunt is about as good as the Tories get and Rayner would have her for breakfast.
Has Sunak trotted out the whole "Starmer won't define a woman" since his horrendous faux Pas in front of Brianna Gheys mum? Seems like that disappeared quick smart after that, though not like I've followed his soundbites avidly either.
The tories tweeted it again yesterday, its seems to be the angle they are returning to

Has Sunak trotted out the whole "Starmer won't define a woman"
Fully expecting that within the first 5 minutes, I even have it on my bingo card for tonight 🤣
If not that he'll at least mention something that is notionally "woke". Boats and Rwanda probably should be on the list as well.
Having a clear definition of what is a woman is an important step towards "getting Brexit done" I suppose.
Speaking of women and destroying the economy I heard this morning on a podcast that the Labour battle bus have adopted a lettuce as their mascot 🤣
Starmer could and should just ask basic questions along the lines of "How much is a pint of milk?"
I'm seeing rumours that the woman who threw the liquid at Farage is the girlfriend of a Reform UK press officer.
Also, Led By Donkeys have created an exposé about Rishi Sunak. It's well worth your time.
A damming portrait of a deeply cynical, avaricious man. He helped engineer the loading of unsustainable debt onto RBS just before the 2008 crash while he was a hedge fund manager.
Which UK teams qualified for the Euros ?
Also Sunak "man of the people" has been doing his campaigning via helicopter which I'm sure will come up.
Seriously when I heard about it the first thing I thought was they've staged it to get coverage and sympathy.
I don't believe it but it would be a stunning revelation of true.
The woman has been arrested so it would bring up issues surrounding wasting police time.
What channel and time is the debate on tonight?
UTV at 9
Emily Hewertson
She's come out and denied it 😁
Finish up with, "Reports say your personal wealth increased by 120m recently. How many nurses would that hire?"
So Joe went to do some interviews in Clacton…and what people are saying is interesting.
Someone saying Nigel seemed to show you can make it if you are racist…and one complaining about being surrounded by foreigners - we know he means dark skinned folk - and all you can see is white faces behind him. How and why do these people have these views? James O'Brien had a 21 minute call with a Farage fan and he just spouted lie after lie he saw on social media and believed it. They walk among us…
He should say you can’t even read a weather forecast, never mind an economic one
Gove reckons Starmer is weak on economics.
This coming from a man instrumental in trashing the economy.
