Yes, 4no. optimisers were fitted on string 2, which has the 8 panels. I recall the installation crew explaining the panel set up at the time. There is variable shading on String 2 and none on String 1, however I thought that at optimum conditions with good sunshine and no shading, that I would notice the voltage difference even for a short window.
There is some shading on String 2 and four optimisers are fitted, but not all panels are shaded at the same time. I checked the voltage for yesterday at mid day. It was cloudy then. String 1 was putting out 125.8v and String 2 was 123.6v.
I see what you mean about the amps. Yesterday at noon with cloud cover, the amps on String 1 was 4.4A, and on String 2 it was 4.9A.
All twelve panels are facing SSE.
Are you able to check the status of the optimisers via and app? I'd wonder if they are in bypass mode.
I didn't know there was an app for them. It wasn't mentioned so I'm not sure if they are.
If TIGO, then you need a TAP and Access Gateway
Really cool site! Ty
We've Huawei optimisers and the panels didn't produce until the installer activated them thru the inverter software. As in those panels were offline. Sounds similar for you
See can u see them in the inverter software. Web browser version might have more functionality than a phone app
Thank you. That is certainly worth looking into.
Hi, just wondering if anyone has an issue with the dedicated solar RCD switch tripping?
Our system was installed last May 2023. Had no issue until April this year. It has happened on 4 occasions since. Annoying as push notifications not working (that's a different story) - so can go unnoticed for days if away.
Solis standard inverter with 10mA RCD
Thanks.
Hi, We had solar PVs installed. We just got issued a handover file and all docs uploaded for grant. The installers for first time have mentioned a Notice of Hazard stating the meter tails need upgrading from 10mm to 16mm. Have asked them for more info. Just surprised only notified now over a month after panels installed. Also surprised if it is a hazard why did they not seek the upgrade be done pre install. The hazard must be from solar install. The smart meterwas put in a few years ago and my understanding is ESB would upgrade tails then if required at time. Bit surprised to find out I have an electrical hazard seemingly created by new PV system.
Also if anyone has experience in how costly or complex this process is it would be much appreciated.
Thanks
ESB don't touch your Consumer unit. Regs are now 16mm² cable between the meter and the CU.
You need a sparks to run a cable as far as the meter and he can join it to the existing 10mm² tails. You then book the ESB to join the sparks cable into the meter
Sorry I see there's a Tips and troubleshooting discussion, will ask there instead
10mA RCD?
Is it a Garo RCD?
Have merged the threads for you.
Not sure that merge worked, I'm not seeing the question here.
Ah thanks, here's the original qt...
Solis standard inverter with 30mA RCD (corrected RCD value)
Esb should've given you a heads up on the 10sq when fitting the smart meter. Your pv installer did the right thing issuing a notice of potential hazard, it wasn't caused by the installation of the pv, just noticed by a competent electrician.
Typo there...meant to say 30mA
Thanks for that. Ok so there is no issue then installing solar PV onto 10mm tails
Scroll up. The posts are interleaved based on post time.
No problem at all, an advisory was issued to contractors recently that stated they should proceed with the installation but issue a notice of potential hazard if they find any. You now must engage with a REC to upgrade to 16mm2. It's up to you whether you actually do or not, just be aware that if anything went wrong your insurance now has an out.
Thanks for that. They have stated to me it is only a recommendation. If it must be done then it seems confusing they would allow install proceed at all without it being done. That part confuses me. Thanks and noted on insurance.
Is it a Garo branded RCD? Or were there local showers during the time of the trip?
Yes it's Gari branded. No showers running. The most recent trip happened while we were away so nothing out of the ordinary running.
*Garo
I think they meant rain showers.
Think he meant downpours/rain/showers 🤣
