Just found the above chart backing up what I have been saying for years.
Global warming is a wholly natural event, if humanity disappeared tonight, global warming would still happen.
You should really investigate PM2.5 air pollution and stoves/open fires. It responsible for horrendous amounts of ill health up to and including death. Ignorance is bliss as they say.
You obviously don't know what you are talking about. I guarantee I have cleaner fresher air in my house than you do in yours. Constant high volume filtered prewarmed fresh air is flowing into every corner of my house every second of the day.
Open a window and you would have the same.
Ignorance sure is bliss.
No you would not, and it has been explained to you on a thread dedicated to MVHR before. What you gain is filtered air so better than outside air, and over 90% heat recovery.
Opening a window is in no way comparable.
If I want fresh air that's what I do.
Sometimes to let out a bit of heat when the house gets to warm.
Living rural, spending money on retrofitting "constant high volume filtered prewarmed fresh air", and bragging online about your air quality over someone else's is a new peak for climate bolloxology.
Must be frightening to leave the house though. Lol
When someone is spouting absolute lies about a technology then they should expect to be pulled up on it.
A house dependent on any type of stove for heat with windows as the primary means of ventilation is the very definition of a wasteful unhealthy environment.
Big change since I was wee.
We were always told to get outside and get some fresh air into your lungs.
NNow your told get into the house to get fresh air into your lungs.
Jesus codology or what. I suppose it sells.
Unfortunately if you can't see the logic of pre filtering and preheating your fresh air so outside pollutants don't enter your home - you are beyond me to explain it to you.
Not sure why an argument over heating and filtering air has any bearing on global warming, plus it appears to be an argument from another thread.
The world is getting hotter. Lots of data on that. Lots of 'hottest years on record' for the last decade plus, this year will likely break the record yet again.
Does that mean climate in Ireland will change much quickly? Unlikely, lots of things affect temperature. The scary things are loss of the AMOC which might happen in our lifetimes, plunging temperatures in Ireland and much worse weather systems. No amount of peat burning, or peat importing, or whatever, will make a difference. Frankly, it's likely too late to make a difference for this generation anyway.
So how do you manage outside.
I will tell you why, because it’s the coal, turf, logs and oil that is being blamed for global warming. So if your in the insulation, solar panel heat pump industry it’s great and if you get an excuse to bring in other taxes on coal and oil it’s also great. I'm not that well up on the whole thing but climate change is a massive money maker for certain big companies.
Such a disengenious comment. Inside air quality is generally worse than outside for multiple reasons. Adequate and appropriate steps to provide ventilation will always improve air quality inside.
The question was not if my house had better air quality than outside - the question was is my houses air quality better than yours. I guarantee that it is because I have taken active steps to ensure it is where as you live with a stove that belched PM2.5 particulates which are slowly killing you, and you have no active air ventilation to remove them.
Malinheader is trying to convince us that all measures to address climate change such as house energy efficiency are just codology by a cabal of fiendish climate scientists trying to rob us blind. It sounds stupid when you say it out loud but that's genuinely the stance he is arguing and why he is attacking the notion that burning peat is not an issue and active ventilation has no benefits to yourself or the planet.
The usual climate change denial ****.
Coal and oil definitely to blame, along with concrete production and many other things. The data are there, CO2 has been measured since the '50s and as it's risen so has temperature.
Oil and coal make way more money than solar panel manufacturing and turbines. Governments subsidize all of them, though not so much the Irish government.
All this eco technology will end up in landfill or waters in a few decade’s time. And will need to be replaced by more technology that will take enormous amount’s of resources to manufacture & extract so the cycle continues.
Whereas a wood burning stove Is a proven multi purpose technology for hundred’s of year’s. You get heating, hot water, cooking etc
You also have to replace them every decade or so - at enormous energy. There are no free lunches.
By the way aren't you banned from this thread ?
I suppose when you go as far as you have gone you have to convince yourself your right. My multi stove boiler keeps me warm in the winter, heats my water. Can even boil a kettle when the powers out. No pollution in the house and if I want fresh air open a window. What do you do in a power cut.
Proven for years is right. Probably before records began.
I stay warm because my house is warm by design. If I thought you would read it I would pull up some data on how bad for your health your stove is - but you wouldn't so I won't.
I think that the biggest plus to all this flicking a switch is that alot of younger people today probably wouldn't know how to start a fire.
Good quality stove’s have a reputation for going a very long time, with minimal maintenance.
It's ridiculous behaviour to think a single thing we do makes even a tiny difference in the grand scale. I drive the Transit down to a lad in the midlands once a year and fill her up for a very decent price with the turf keeps us going throughout the winter. Sitting in front of a turf fire with a fine whiskey reading a book in one of life's best pleasures. I'll be darned if the Green's are taking it from me.
Might explain why shoog is on this site nearly 24/7
He’s paying so much money for all this eco technology he hasn’t a penny to do anything else

Something not to read.
Me and the brothers there families and the grand kids cut ourselves every year. I know it might sound strange to some but it’s a great couple of days craic. No phones, no screens and great to be handing a tradition down. Alot will say they hate it but the memories last forever.
If a stove is bad for your health its either not put in right or the flue or chimney must not be working right.
I mind when I was young between a blow down, grandads pipe and my father's Majors some nights it was hard to see the TV. Lol.
No it's not, a stove spews out PM2.5 particulates every time it's doors are opened, ie every time you refuel, it's unavoidable. There is loads of research to demonstrate this.
If you burn a stove all day every day you can expect a reduction in life expectancy of around 4-5 years.
