Just found the above chart backing up what I have been saying for years.
Global warming is a wholly natural event, if humanity disappeared tonight, global warming would still happen.
Having the boiler upgraded today, been a huge task but should be worth it. If only there were economical replacements, like per-house wind systems. Solar is in place with a number of neighbours, after initial enthusiasm, it seems like it helps a little, not a lot, and despite the subsidies, selling excess back to the grid, etc. will pay for it self in decades at best.
We may still put it in simply as a hedge against future rising electrical prices, which will happen as the world bursts further due to overpopulation and the accompanied demand.
Yes that's exactly what their policies state. Cycling in the rain, lettuce, turnips and tents. That'll solve everything. You've clearly done your research so well done, very constructive argument there.
I could ask you the same question.
Common sense is a field that is lacking alot imo. Rural background myself and I'm well aware that certain things have to be implemented for the good of the environment but when it becomes a lucrative money making machine common sense goes out the window.
In terms of solar, if you have to take out a loan then it might be harder to justify. If you have the money in the bank I think given compound inflation and rates of return on savings you would be hard pressed to better solar in terms of return over time. Thats how I am looking at it.
Good summers and bad summers as far back when I was young. And that's a long time ago. Lol.. Global warming sounds better though.
Its an industry that thrives on fear and idiots.
No ,that's usually stated in every opening sentence by the Greens.
Bad summer-climate change
Good hot summer- climate change.
Dry year-climate change
Wet year-climate change.
As I said, common sense lacking.
Some things have to be implemented for the environment but as soon as it becomes a cash cow this is what happens.
Turf all cut so I'm just waiting for the weather now to drag it out. Hopefully get a bit of good weather soon. 🙏
My background isn't relevant here as I'm not the one dismissing masses of scientific research as "Climate change codology"
Do you want a medal?
How do you know if someone cuts their own turf?
Because they'll tell you.
Imagine if there was a green policy that told people that instead of flicking a switch to turn on an electric heater, we had to spend several days every year out in the wilderness piling mud into heaps and then another day bringing it home into a big shed so we can go outside and bring it in every time we feel cold?
Was that self cut or was there a contractor involved ?
I once bought a hopper of turf for my own fire and it was the worst and most expensive fuel I ever bought. I remember my granny been a slave to the range as the good turf she had was constantly been shovelled into the Rayburn to keep her cold cottage tolerable. The good old days that you seem to be stuck in.
Turf fire is unbeatable. Love it
Huh? Don't think I'd be allowed go out and start culling people
Dunning-Kruger effect. Remember, 'never wrestle with a pig. You both will get covered in sh1t and the pig will enjoy it.'
Hard to beat on a cold winter night topped up with a good bucket of coal. Heaven.
Cut myself. Funny how you state the good old days, maybe your being sarcastic I Don't know but to me they were the good old days. Perhaps it all comes down to our expectations and our way of looking at life.
They were the bad old days, cold damp houses with mother's tied to the range.
you said nuclear war would be good for the environment because it will help kill off lots of human’s. So your in favour of a population cull. Would you like to start with yourself?
As I said it's a matter of opinion.
Our house was freezing in the morning, frost on the inside of the windows, lovely when the range was lit . Always a draft of fresh air all year. Ten of us,very rarely sick and no chest complaints.
Nowadays I hear people are installing pumps to clean the air because the houses are so air tight. Asthma through the roof and cold and flus a common problem.
Big problem I see Nowadays is sealing up houses. But what do I know.
But we are, weve been destroying the environment for 10s of thousand’s of years. It’s only now through technology & global scale management that we are accelerating all these environmental problems. And our agricultural systems that keep Animals locked up in feedlots instead of on the land is breaking the Earth’s natural system’s.
Perhaps you misunderstood my point? Humans are the cause of climate issues. If there were less humans as result of a nuclear war (or anything really), then that's a big help to the climate. How you inferred I'm in favour of a cull though isn't clear
Do you have any evidence of this? No matter what else you say you’ll never convince me Nuclear War is good for the environment.
My house is sealed and I have a whole house ventilator. Considerably warmer and more healthy than the older house I lived in where condensation was a constant problem and range dust caused significant respiratory issues.
Range dust. I have never heard of this. Anyway good luck with your house but I think I'll stick to what I have and know. If its cold I light a fire ,if its a good day but chill in the evening I boost my oil and if its a very good day I Don't use heating at all. Simple but affectective.
As long as the climate remains what you're used to, sounds like a good strategy.
Asthma prevalence has a tonne of factors including air pollution and damp homes and simply genes. Frost on the inside of windows would actually increase the risk cause it's a damper home with increased risks of mould. Same would apply to getting colds, flu and chest infections etc. That's not an opinion, it's a fact.
Vaguely claiming based on personal anecdote is great and all but the science simply doesn't agree with you. If it did, you wouldn't be relying on anecdotal claims.
Well I Don't really see any difference. I know from the bog and trying to make hay that you get some very wet summers and some scorchers, always have Done. And alot of the flooding is down to bad building decisions and bad management of our rivers and drainage systems. Really what massive changes should I take note of.
Are you concerned with climate-change impacts outside your immediate area? Outside Ireland? Up to you what you take note of and plan for.
I think living in totally sealed houses with no fresh air would be alot worse. What happened to opening a window.
Only what affects me.I Never really seen the sense Stopping turf cutting and China and Germany opening up more and more coal powered power stations. Banning peat production and shipping it into Ireland and being distributed by hundreds of lorries. Codology of the highest.
