I wish cars still depreciated like that. I bought a 6 year old Saab 9-5 in 2012 for 6 grand. The way things have gone since I'll never own anything under 13 years again 😭
I remember hearing of a man who went to trade in his three year old 607 back in the day. There was an eruption of anger in the showroom when he found out how much they told him it had deprecated by. Rocket powered depreciation.
Gone already. What year was it?
Gone already. what year was it?
Them 607's are super comfortable!!!!
Haven't seen one of these in years, must be one of the rarest cars in the country 😀 NCT to end of 24, €2450

Very specific on the engine capacity too.... down to about 30 digits after the decimal point, just in case you were in any doubt. 🙂
Ugly as sin. €1,500 for a 07 Roomster. 1.4. Test to next year. One of the worst put together ads I’ve seen in a longtime too.

Diesel I'd imagine I think the smallest petrol was 1.8, I could be wrong. They're a very comfortable car.
1.6 petrol or diesel?
I have a 2012 Mondeo for the last 8 years and even though it's not the most exciting car, it's the one I'll miss when it goes. Lovely lazy motorway cruiser, cheap as chips to run, comfortable as feck, huge boot and other than regular servicing it's only had a timing belt change and a clutch replaced in 8 years of ownership. I only have the 1.6, so the 2.0 litre should offer some extra poke( but not much I'd imagine)
Don't know much about Mondeos but I saw that car in passing the other day & it looked very clean.
T.
By the way that was meant as some light humour lol.
286,000 kms is some achievement alright but I highly doubt it would do 100 kms as someone suggested below, possibly closer to 60 kms with that mileage and year or possibly even less considering it only had around 140 Kms absolute max in warm weather but when new you'd have wanted to be plugged in at 110 Kms. I had the same car in 2015.
With that mileage though I really pity the SOB who had to fast charge so much , that's serious dedication for the EV cause !
The sellers claim "112km-115km range " is total b1llocks , I know because I had one.
5k would put in a new battery and it would go for another 286,000 kms. That used to be the cost of a new battery, not even sure if they still offer new batteries and what the cost is ?
Yeah it's a good option until it's not, the issue of possibly needing it for a longer run if the other car is in use, might work in some instances.
You could add 2 more.
The only option available on the post was flag, so I did it. It's getting beyond the beyond now.
There used to be a decent poster years ago called mad lad too but this is obviously not the same person. Report any OT stuff to the mods to deal with or add to your ignore list.
Thats actually an unreal bargain. 100km per day is way more than the vast majority of people drive on the vast majority of days. Having this car as your daily runaround with a 2nd car to use on weekends or holidays would save a fortune on fuel while reducing the worst kinds of wear and tear on your other car (short trips in ICE cars = bad for the engine as the oil never gets to full operating temperature and the cooling heating cycles cause the most strain on components)
He's lost it completely now...
I had to unfollow the ID3 thread because of this loony now he's infiltrating the bangernomics thread with motorbikes, is anything going to actually done about this bell end?
That’s two wheels short for this forum
Honda Super Cub 125, 133+ imperial MPG, lovely thing, great for 2nd vehicle.
I'm riding a Yamaha T-Max 500 and can't wait to get on it for a spin, so much fun, and takes the mileage off the car.
The T-Max is for fun though, but I find myself using it around rural Ireland a lot more now that I have more 2 wheel experience.
+1 to something similar to this scenario. We're debating getting a cheap second hand electric car for our second car too for a similar useage pattern - the car does at most ten 10-20km round trips a week. Anything down to a 50km range would be absolutely no problem, and the cheap running/ownership costs would be great.
I'd suspect thats a fairly common scenario for second cars in households in Dublin these days with so many people WFH or retired too. They just get used for school trips, popping to shops, calling over to friends etc or the odd short commute.
Not the greatest car in the world but it’ll get you around and be easy on diesel. Bit short on NCT. 2011 Kia Rio hatch. €3,200. Bangernomics budget should be easily achieved.

We have one for this purpose and it's perfect. We do 3 school runs per day which is a 34km roundtrip each time and just plug it in whenever it's at home. Would be stupid for us (or most people) as a main car, but that's not what we have it for. We've had it nearly a year I'd say and it flew through the NCT without any advisories even last week. Not for everyone, but definitely makes sense for some scenarios like ours.
To be fair, they are a good second car or local run around. Some people would only drive 65 miles a week and it would take the average person 3/4 days to do 65 miles so it would actually suit a lot more people than you think, especially as a second car. Very reliable, €120 tax and costs maybe €3 or so for a full charge.
There have been plenty of people on here and on the EV section who have bought used ones and its used as maybe a 2nd car for school runs etc and it's ideal for that, but with the mileage on that one, I really doubt the range they are saying it's capable of. The battery health has to be severely diminished at this stage and I'd say realistically that car would only do maybe 50 or 60kms at best
Because it's cheap to buy, cheap to run and will get them anywhere within a range of 65 miles. Some people might not go more than 10 in a day's driving, or might only use it as a runaround to pop to the shop or the church. It's buckets for that.
Why would anyone want a car with a range of 65 miles. What a nightmare.
