… thread stuck.
BUMP
Could you imagine shrinkflation not being prominently displayed like other countries, but this is Ireland
On the plus side, the green-washing of single use plastic is done, ensuring that for a couple of decades to come no one needs to worry about reinventing their business model.
Imagine the existential impact on Cokes business if we ever got serious about not using plastic.
Taking into account the opportunity of chaotic pricing it has brought, and the prospect of lower producer fees in future to burn off those unclaimed deposits, I would say Coke are not too worried about any major DRS impact.
@Boards.ie: Mike Seriously can you do something about this thread. It's getting irritating at this stage.
bump
I'll try a bump 👊
Mods please take note. Here we go again BUMP

I see this story is being recycled here on 29 May. It must be in some sort of Re-Turn scheme for old newspaper articles.
Nothing to do with the tray of 24 cans reduced to 18 cans and the actual price increasing!
I mean they could go to super efficient Copenhagen and look at their DRS scheme, but it's chilly this time of year. Tahiti have a much more novel approach it's just a coincidence it is 10 degrees warmer.
🤣 I was thinking you were changing position a bit there. Should've known. I remember the FAS scandal just didn't twig the Tahiti reference.
Why do you think I referenced Tahiti? Remember the Fas expenses scandal?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%81S_expenses_scandal
Yes that would be great wouldn't it. Im all for it. Legitimate expenses for improving Re-Turn.
However forward planning and no pilfering of the kitty in the meantime need to be assumed with that scenario. From what we've seen so far...
Well that's a positive anyway!
Yay!!! A great success for business!
Yeah they have to direct where the unclaimed deposits go. They are going to re-invest in the scheme. Maybe they could research how recycling is done in other countries? I'm sure Tahiti has a successful recycling scheme so they could send a delegation there on an exploratory trip. Expenses paid of course because it is a business trip.
I wasnt aware there was anything to direct. The scheme is doing a great job for Re-Turn.
Then I remembered the 10s of millions of unreturned deposits that need directing. These lads will make sure they find a good home. Some craic.
A totally unbiased group there with no vested interests whatsoever I'm sure.
🤣
Is there a single non vested interested representative on it?
Seems anti-competitive also, if the directors come from the largest companies.
Some of the 12 directors for Re-turn
' Conor Hyland, finance director of Heineken Ireland; Tesco Ireland’s Rosemary Garth, who previously worked for Irish Distillers; Joseph Owens, managing director of Clada Group; Shane Kelly from Lidl; and Kevin Donnelly of Britvic Ireland'
Only In Ireland!
but if the RVM pays out there is no cost.
Jesus the bar has well and truly been thrown out the window.
"On 31 May 2022, Minister Smyth received an application from Deposit Return Scheme Ireland CLG (Trading as Re-turn) to act as an approved body under the DRS Regulations. On 1 July 2022, Re-turn’s application was approved. Re-turn is a new, not-for-profit company set up by beverage producers. "

I don't think they're technically classed as a non profit? They're a commercial entity who won a tender?
Why does this not surprise me? Maybe because it is commercially sensitive? Oh wait, they are a monopoly! Oh, and also Not for Profit!!!

You have now lost your no claims bonus for having all these bumps lo😂
Some sort of bottle neck I guess.
