Between Man City and Dublin? Its a ridiculous comparison.
Yep, Dublin financial monopoly on the sport could be dealt with by the organising body relatively easily whereas Man City have a mall cop keeping them in check.
I'm not so sure. How did so much government money get diverted to one county? Bertie Ahern involved, John Bailey involved. There has to be huge suspicion there.
so just pure speculation with zero proof? So in no way comparable to city
I thought with Limerick winning all those all Irelands in the hurling, it would take take the heat of Dublin but I suppose winning another Sam last year has started all the s**te talk again.
Let's also start an investigation onto all those Kerry all Ireland wins in the 80s and 00s.
They're right cute hours down there.
FFS!!!
wow didn’t think there was still dub fans around in 2024 that don’t have the self awareness to be embarrassed about winning the AI so much in last decade with so many blatantly unfair advantages but there you go, there’s nowt as queer as folk as they say
Do they honestly think their “ achievement “ is up there with any of Kerry’s runs- everyone has to pretend in the media but most know the real score
What speculation? Loads of government money did get diverted to Dublin.
Ah yeah, let Dublin make ribbons out of the sport at IC level because.. hang on, there’s no reason to allow it to continue unless you’re from Dublin.
Dipped into Jonathan Wilson's new podcast.
Pretty good I have to say although his co-presenter isn't great.
Wilson doing historical stories like the Nazis in football voice clip but in depth would actually be pretty cool. He’s so earnest that he’s endearing in way Fanning or Miguel aren’t. But Miguel is the prophet of wrongness so he’s ok in my book.
I don’t think I ever stated that. I said Dublin had 0 charges against them and broke 0 rules.
I’m not embarrassed by winning the AI. What’s a bizarre take. Why would any Dublin fan be embarrassed???
I think Dublins achievements are not up there with Kerry. They’re far beyond it. Nobody else has won 5 in a row. Jim Gavins team were incredible.
Do I think Limerick should be embarrassed by their success with their funding? No. They’re an incredible team.
”0 rules broke”
“I’m not so sure”
“Speculation with no proof”
“What speculation?”
What rules was broken? None. Dubs got a lot of investment, nobody has denied that. What rule did we break?
Think the thread has been slightly derailed with this Man City = Dublin rubbish.
Can't we go back to giving out about Murph and speculating about Mark Horgans whereabouts 😜
No, your comparison between Dublin football and hurling.
it’s funny how the money didn’t lead to success in hurling and hence there’s zero complaints. Same pitches. Same gyms. Same infrastructure there for the hurlers.
And not one mention of the Limerick hurlers either.
Anyway, it's off topic, maybe for the GAA
The comparison just doesn’t work for your intended purpose.
the comparison works just as well as Man City and Dublin. It’s a ridiculous and pointless comparison so yeah, I think it makes the point I want.
bit whiny from all the journalists on today's pod when their profession is questioned. you just got to ignore half the stuff you read on twitter or youtube comments
You said 0 rules broken. Do you know for certain that Bertie didn't break any rules in diverting money to his county? No. So none of us are sure if any rules were broken.
What an absolutely ridiculous position to take.
textbook example of: 'you can't prove a negative'
a ridiculous debating tactic you're taking
Is there an echo in here? 🤣
Not ridiculous, a good old fashioned tribunal would get to the bottom of the Bertie/Bailey deal. We all know they have a less than spotless record
For a Minister of Finance without a bank account to get millions of government money directed to his county, it's very believable that something dodgy could have taken place.
One thing's for sure, it was definitely against the rules of fairness.
Dublin has the biggest population in the country and the biggest playing population also. Makes sense that they get significant grant funding and can raise significantly more money than other counties.
The playing field can be balanced somewhat by the GAA if needed. They have done nothing wrong.
Man City on the other hand........they have ruined the game in England and are now able to generate enough money themselves without breaking rules, forever changing the landscape.
Now I do think a Pep Less City would be pulled back into the pack but they've gotten away scot free with their behaviour.
Has anyone else had enough of this horsesh*t arguement about a GAA team and a premier league team?
Abso-bloody-exactly!
In other news, Richie's upcoming podcast with Duff sounds interesting enough.
Ken dismissing Ten Hag justifying poor performances by pointing at injuries, after Ken has excused Liverpool somewhat during the season due to... injuries.
Balanced.
Liverpool and Man Utd had fairly contrasting league seasons so that’s why Ken probably sees them as different cases.
Ken pointed out that Liverpool had their best run when they had most their injuries and the form dropped when the first teamers returned. That's not an excuse, that's pointing out how reality differs from expectation.
Jamie wall is great on the hurling. He was always good but is an easier listen now
