Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
same day as pride parade/parties and longitude as well
Remember that was on same time last year as Blur in Malahide
To say the city was busy is an understatement
could very easily be 150,000 out at concerts in Dublin that day. Shania the day before with Taylor in aviva
Green Day on the 27th too
Off topic How come the configuration for RHK gets changed for different promoters ? Can't say I was a fan of that hill for MCR a few years back
pod/aiken use the bowl for main stage as they use for the upper banks for multiple tents for forbidden fruit and always use that set up for May/June concerts.
mcd in recent years just use the upper banks flat area that usually has the two other main tents at forbidden. green day at RHK which was mcd show used the bowl.
Personally prefer the bowl as better view if further back and sound always good in it
June is completely saturated with concerts.
Its absolutely ridiculous.
Tickets are gone too expensive and hotels are a rip off so people cant go to too many unless living in Dublin.
between malahide, marlay, trinity, fairview and aviva MCD have 580,000 capacity shows in June alone. 5 x aviva (65k)
4 x marlay (35k)
3 x malahide (20k)
8 x fairview (8.5k)
3 x trinity (5k)
Some of the venues are too big. Whats Fairview? 8k? Are there 8000 people willing to pay 60 quid to see Sum 41 in the year of Our Lord 24?
8,500 is capacity they applied for. pretty sure it’s the old electric arena tent from EP that they use for it.
This one, I liked that marquee.
Some big ones in the Point in June too... Smashing Pumpkins, Liam Gallagher, Killers...
yeah another 8 nights at 3 arena for mcd so that’s another 100k plus of tickets in June
Probably punk rock fans like me + their kids, but i don't think theres a lot My kids like "the sums" because of me. But unfortunately we'll be away on holidays that week, thats 3 of us out. My friend who has a similar taste in music hasn't decided yet. So that's 4 probably. Add gigs of similar genre of greenday, blink-182 and not everyone can afford all of them. Plus it was announced quite late, way after taylor, Coldplay, pink, Ramstein etc.
I see they also change the age rules. It was 16+ only in January, now u16s with adult 25+. Sales must be bad
You are getting to see The Scratch as support when you go see Sum 41.
James Vincent McMorrow doing three shows upstairs at Whelan's next week...
I will drive back to the south coast after a Dublin gig rather than pay for a hotel. However if someone is looking for a cheap room they can get the ferry over to Holyhead after the Taylor Swift gig coming back the following afternoon with cabins each way for less that 150 quid….
😁
Loved that setup for MCR, made Kilmainham a very different type of venue to the usual outdoor field and it was really cool being able to look back up the hill and see the whole crowd.
Pity they couldn't reschedule the Blink show to the timeframe of Autumn/Winter 2023, is what it is i suppose but can understad the financial contraints of summer shows been so close together plus Back to school, holidays etc
on paper this summer is a dream for us Kerrang teens
Absolutely raging I'm missing the gig but will be back in Canada when the gig is on 😭
They’re heading back to Canada Sept/October…..

Ugh a Tuesday, great live band but I'm not driving 2 hours for a 1 hour show and having just heard Amy being interviewed last week it aint going to be anymore than an hour, shame its a Tuesday but worth going If you live nearer dublin
Sadly I'll have moved back to Ireland by that stage 😭
An hour is about the right time for a gig for that sort of music.
I was done after 45 minutes at their Olympia gig. Started to get a bit bored for the last part of it. Conversely, i enjoyed their full set at EP.
Amyl & the Sniffers at the Olympia gig was enjoyable and worth seeing if you haven't seen them before. Def get 100% what you expect . Not sure I'd in a rush to see them again soon unless there's plenty of new material.
C.O.F.F.I.N the support on the night were top notch
They have a new single coming out soon. I've seen them 2.5 times (Marlay was a shít show getting in) but last year they were playing about 25% faster than a couple of years ago.
He's coming home
