We've a mixed up lot of civil servants. You'd be wondering were the grain growers association involved in the objection? It sounds like something when local and objection to land going out of tillage was mentioned.
At a council event for farmers recently and the council don't know how to square the circle of tilled ground leaching nitrates. The sound in the media and the plant lobby is for more brown earth but the council water testers are complaining of nitrates from tilled ground. The only thing they can think of is to promote beans in the rotation and then limit artificial fertiliser outside that.
Wonder was there planning got for the castle or the ring Fort for that matter.😃

I doubt it. He was lucky to get planning from Kildale coco. He was poorly advised with regards to establishing a new agricultural access for over 1km, many county council would consider this a no go, scarring the landscape would be there terminology and in close proximity to a heritage site to boot.
He should put in to cover the place in solar panels, they cant argue the environmental side on that one, and surely renewable energy creation and net zero trumps a few pissed of locals objecting, for arguementsake if they stopped the above aswell, theirs a pretty strong case of state interfearance in private land use

If he borrowed 5 million for arguememts sake on a 15 year term at 6% intrest apr, monthly repayments would be 42k a month, just tipping half a million a year...

Man who built my parlour said not one dairy person locally doing building work at the minute anyone who had planned on doing something have either put a halt to it or is getting out. Concrete now 150/ meter and payment up front , so if he's doing a job now he has to either fund the start of the job or get a deposit before starting

Concrete for the slurry tank was poured last week and the slats will go on top in about 10 days. It'll be backfilled then and we'll take the levels for the parlour from there. There's a slight fall in the yard running along the side of the tank so there's a bit of figuring to be done to get it all level for feed barrier on one side and the cubicles and parlour on the other.
Re costs: a few comments on the YouTube channel asked but I can't really say what I'm paying lads. It doesn't bother me but I don't think it'd fair to the people I'm buying from. Including VAT the headline figure is €30k-ish for the slurry tank: 6 loads of concrete, steel, slats, and labour. It's 100-ft x 14-6 slat x 8-ft deep. No TAMS.
Prices very unstable at the minute, builder had quoted concrete here at 80 euro /m. At finish of job it was 120

Ad plants and the quality of grass silages needed, totally negates any messing on the ad plants side, the agreements only work where ad plant rents ground and then has full control over cutting process/grass quality and a land bank to get rid of digestate out on….

Exactly this. The grass being fed into these plants needs to be every bit as good as what would go into a cow. Otherwise they don't produce as much as they'd need to justify the costs. Farmer Phil did a video recently of a plant up north somewhere and there's good insights into it. Of course up there they use it to generate power but in the Republic the plan is to plug into the gas network and not generate electricity. And the government recently announced no subsidy to the plants to help keep prices reasonable but instead are putting in legislation to mandate use of bio gases in place of fossil fuel variants (Renewable Heat Obligation (RHO)).
