Wild roots cancelled, saw it on their socials there. It wasn't looking great when they were doing two for one tickets for the second year in a row. I know they owe money to a lot different people and companies and they attempted to spread the costs over a couple of years. After this news unfortunately a lot of people will be out of pocket.

Yeah there's more than a few stories around about it alright. It's a real shame but it seems to be a classic case of going too big too fast. I had heard unconfirmed reports that the promoters had bought the land itself presumably because they were in for the long haul.

It won't hold up in court, I haven't seen a specific law / legal basis for objecting to the vertical integration. People keep saying they are a monopoly, but they don't actually make that much profit despite all the fanfare. Only a 1.5% net profit last year vs for example Google or apple with a 25% margin.
It's more of a political football in my opinion, the argument is very weak for them having to break up legally. If they have to break up then your talking about the likes of Uber, AirBnB, Google etc. certainly having to be broken up.
And the argument about all the fees is pure bluster, this should be done for all companies at a legislative level, sure there's little difference between the likes of stubhub, seat geek or Asx or other companies like AirBnB etc. Charging insane fees. But just like everything in the US it's all about big business (E.g. guns), politics and votes.
I know people will mention event eventbrite but the platform is poor in comparison for me...no option for ticket resale / ticket transfer there and wouldn't be able to handle large volumes like Electric picnic etc.
Bottom line artists / fans don't really care what platform they are using, just what offers the best overall experience in combination with fees charged. (Less the Taylor Swift debacle, which I think any other ticketing company wouldn't have been able to handle, I've always had an OK enough experience).
As of now there's no factual basis to assume that ticketmaster have done anything wrong, so unless the Doj is aware of something everyone else isn't I'd expect nothing except maybe a minor concession from LiveNation to happen here. The real winners here will be all the lawyers as this will all take years to play out.

Just came on to post that. It's a great album. Know A Lazarus Soul are playing Vicar Street that same night, would probably have been there otherwise. His last gigs here were Fairview and 3Arena so a lot bigger venues but maybe he wanted more intimate venues on this tour. I'm having issues with links too btw
I thought he was in the arena last time too, much nicer in the Olympia
Have to admit I struggle a bit with the album, but just because I loved Every Kingdom so much. I'll still probably head to this
Have struggled with most of his albums since as think Every Kingdom is a fantastic album, and regularly go back to it.
Just noticed Ben Howard is the same night as Antlers/Okkervil too!

Yeah busy old weekend of gigs with bank holiday weekend!
I used to be a bit of an Antlers fan. Forgot about them then (so obviously not much of a fan 😂).
Anyway, started listening to them again when I saw the announcement of the October gig. They have some really good stuff. I put together a playlist with songs like Palace, No Widows, Solstice, Hettering, Green to Gold etc. Can't stop listening to it.
There is a fair amount of filler on their albums though.
I don't know anything about Okkervil River. Must give them a listen.

Sounds very good. Way more upbeat than The Antlers.

Antlers first two albums are excellent and a great live band. Hospice an extraordinary concept album. Played EP twice, but on both occasions at the end of long Summer’s festival tours so looked weary.
Okkervil River also very good, impressive at EP 10/12 years ago and I remember a cover of Sloop John B. More low-key than Antlers but that’s a pretty great duo to be getting together, probably the best value gig of the Autumn.
