I know the first proposal of this type of thread was shut down due to the OP tone.
I honestly think it time to start this discussion.
No further info.
'and put up the polls to pedestrianise the area' 😃
Over the past five years, roads around Duggan’s venues and other popular pubs like the Róisín Dubh and Taylor’s Bar have been pedestrianised from the beginning of each May to facilitate outdoor dining. “It was meant to happen from May 1 this year, but that didn't happen because the council aren't paying the workers to close the roads as they have been. So a few of us went to a three-day roadworks course in Roscommon. Now I’m qualified to stop traffic, put up signs and put up the polls to pedestrianise the area,” Duggan said.
Ya its about the course they did for the road closures. Council weren't going to send out people so some of the local businesses and employees got certified. He's not running. Headline a little misleading.
Interesting article. Highlights some of the issues for local businesses and their struggles with the council
Most likely he has the safety cert needed for lads who manage road closures for things like roadworks, or 6-11pm outdoor drinking facilities.
Is Malachy running in the Central Ward?
A great opener paragraph in this article.
"
Malachy Duggan added a new qualification to his lengthy, and varied, CV earlier this month. Not out of choice, but necessity.
The self-professed “part-time playwright and part-time publican” of The Blue Note and Massimo bars in Galway city is now fully qualified in traffic management.
Anyone know what he means by this (paywalled)? Malachy Duggan is now fully qualified in traffic management.
I’ll back big women who say it too!
Am going to guess based on your username shw was not in your Ward anyhow?
Presume you will be backing the big lads going for election who say stuff like "I will build the big wide road"
I don't know if that's something to celebrate. When the Salthill Cycle Lane controversy was in full swing you had one Councillor from one of the main parties using a single heated phone call they had with another Council candidate as an excuse to go on the national airwaves and try to present themselves as a martyr for the 'abuse' they were getting. But at the same time Colette had multiple instances of vile abuse being screamed at her by strangers while she was out and about in Galway but she kept completely quiet about it rather than trying to capitalise on it. I admire her for that. And, if that abuse influenced her decision not to run again, then it's yet more confirmation that our political space is deteriorating significantly.
Two of them are available to listen back to here:

Great to see that Colette Connolly has thrown in the towel
It must have been Monday evening around 8 I heard the first debate as I was driving, I didn't catch when the next one was to be on, could have been this evening, can't find the programme schedule on gbfm
I reckon so. Blow ins who don't know the area. I know sometimes people put down their home addresses which isn't too bad.
Under 'occupation', one wrote mother 😀 You go girl! 😃
When are the debates on? Any notions on what they say are the main issues facing Galway?
Is that the final list?
Do you mean parachute candidates? i.e using the Local Consituency office as the address but not living in or next to near the Ward they are representing itself?
You want candidates to include their home address? Have you not seen the news recently?
Anyone know if there are any county debates coming up?
On gbfm this evening the host of tonight's debate was asking 3 or 4 would-be councillors to email the station because gbfm couldn't contact them to take part in a debate later this week😏
City Council list is here:
https://www.galwaycity.ie/gccfiles/?r=/download&path=L0dhZWlsZ2UvQWR2ZXJ0IE5vdGljZSBvZiBQb2xsIChDb21iaW5lZCkucGRm
I see a list of County Council Candidates here: https://www.galway.ie/en/media/Nomination%20of%20Candidates%20accepted_Galway%20County%20Council.pdf
Candidates should be putting in the Address of where they live so that Voters who might not know them at least have an idea are they living near by.
I can't see a City Council list.
..
I think Mike Cubbard makes it a point not to. Don't remember seeing his face anywhere since they went up either. He's hurt his back too so struggling to get on doors. I'd say he's still fine to get in but it'll be interesting to see if his numbers are down
Edit: https://connachttribune.ie/posters-are-integral-to-galways-free-elections/
There are few. Here's one in the news
is running not using posters ? They would get my vote
I would create the demand to increase the capacity in the post election environment.
In pre-election time, how would you increase capacity to meet increased demand?
Perhaps integrate into NEW Bus Shelters around the City? One side info portal - other side ad. Two birds with one stone
Vocal about what?
Will bladdering on about being anti war be of any real benefit to you?
